Position Summary:


The main research theme in the group of Professor Berghuis is focused on structural and functional studies of macromolecules relevant to infectious diseases.

Position start date is June 01, Year contract/full-time).


Duties will be to:

  • Contribute to the ongoing research efforts and participate in projects that pursue approaches to circumvent antimicrobial resistance.
  • RA is expected to contribute to preparing manuscripts that report on the research.
  • RA will provide mentoring and supervisory support to trainees in Professor Berghuis' group.

Education & Experience:

  • Ph. D in Biochemistry or related field with a proven track record in the use structural biological approaches to research and experience with Xray crystallographic structure determination techniques.
  • Proficiency in protein expression and purification.
  • Proven expertise in bacterial ribosome purification, and structure determination using Xray diffraction approaches, (e.g. crystallization, data collection, structure determination and analysis).
  • Experience with computational modelling programs (e.g. MOE, Dock Vina) is expected.

Knowledge of French and English:

  • McGill University is an Englishlanguage university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing.
  • The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level 4 (qualifier) on a scale of 04.
