We continuously evolve our business structure to improve the way we operate our Whitehorse Liquor Store, central warehouse and five rural community Liquor Stores in Dawson City, Faro, Haines Junction, Mayo, and Watson Lake.

The opportunity
The Manager of the Whitehorse Liquor Store is responsible for managing a six-day-a-week retail operation. Responsibilities include providing leadership and direction, controlling costs and maximizing revenue.

Responsibilities are achieved through control of the operation, the building and its contents, implementing operational plans, developing annual store budgets, controlling employment costs, and analyzing and producing reports.

In addition, the Manager is responsible for controlling stock levels and stock variance control and is accountable for ensuring acceptable levels of security in the store for both staff and physical assets.

The Manager is responsible for hiring, supervising, training and developing staff, fostering teamwork and maintaining good staff morale, and creating and managing weekly work and daily assignment schedules.

The manager is also required to participate in all store duties, and in corporate and sales unit duties and projects.

  • Extensive experience leading and supervising a team (preferably including scheduling)
  • Experience in a retail and client service environment
  • Experience using a computerized Point of Sales (POS) system
  • Recent financial management and cash balancing/handling experience
  • Demonstrated experience with inventory management and control

Job Requirement(s): Wearing safety footwear; wearing and maintaining a uniform provided by Yukon Liquor Corporation, heavy lifting 60% of the time, and working Monday to Friday or Tuesday to Saturday shifts.
