Community Services Assistant - Kelowna, Canada - KCR Community Resources
Description
We are currently seeking a Community Services Assistant to join our team.In this role, you will work closely with the Community Services team to provide exceptional support in responding to community information inquiries, recruiting and onboarding volunteers and organizations, and assisting with the coordination of workshops, outreach activities, and events.
This position is 28 hours to 35 hours per week.Responsibilities:
Community Information and Referrals
- Maintain and update the Information Database.
- Utilize the database to create and distribute current publications of available resources.
- Share information with the community about resources in the Central Okanagan region.
Recruitment and Onboarding
- Assist with recruitment and onboarding of volunteers and organizations.
- Manage and update the volunteer database.
- Support organizations in posting and updating volunteer opportunities.
- Collaborate with organizations to develop safe and engaging volunteer roles.
Coordination of Workshops, Outreach Activities, and Events
- Assist in planning and coordinating nonprofit workshops, including participant and facilitator management.
- Organize outreach activities and events for Community Services.
- Contribute to the planning and execution of community events, including the annual Okanagan Volunteer Fair.
- Provide general assistance to the Community Services team as needed.
Qualifications:
- Postsecondary education in business, marketing, nonprofit management, human resources, education, social sciences, or a related field preferred.
- Experience in volunteering and/or working with volunteers.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to develop information resources.
- Experience in public engagement and/or customer service.
