    Description
    Our clients, alitigation boutique law firm with offices in Vancouver and Toronto are seeking Legal Administrative Assistants. The firm's lawyers have in-depth knowledge and experience in insurance, class actions and health law. Theirlawyers appear before all levels of Court (including the Supreme Court of Canada) and tribunals, and practice across Canada.

    Many of their lawyers are members of multiple law societies, including British Columbia, Ontario, Alberta, Yukon and the Northwest Territories.

    They have an opening for a top tier intermediate legal assistant. They are specifically looking for expertise in Insurance Defence, Health Law, and Litigation.
    Responsibilities
    Performing LAA work from file opening to closing.
    Drafting simple pleadings, including application records, books of authorities, appeal records and appeal books.
    Drafting correspondence.
    Filing documents with court registries.
    Communicating with opposing counsel, experts and clients.
    Maintaining BF limitation dates.
    The ideal candidate would possess:
    ~4+ year legal administrative office experience.
    ~ Specific experience with Insurance/ICBC.
    ~ Legal Administrative Assistant Certificate is mandatory for this role.
    ~ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to deal directly with clients and all levels of staff.
    ~ Ability to meet deadlines under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude.
    ~ Excellent attention to detail, organized and proactive, able to multi-task and handle changing priorities.
    ~ Work independently and as part of a team.
    ~ Proficiency in MS Word and ability to learn new software and technology quickly.
    ~ Knowledge of the BC Supreme Court Civil Rules and ability to interpret Rules and Acts.
    ~ Experience with ProLaw an asset.
