Description

Job purpose
To ensure a consistent flow of wood into the mill as required by the mill.

This will include coordinating the flow of wood being reclaimed from the log yard and keeping in communication with the scale house for truckloads being delivered for "hot-logging" of loads from highway trucks directly into the ponds or into the hot pond storage tiers.

Duties and responsibilities

Ensure a safe work environment
Reclaiming wood from Woodyard onto company transports for delivery to Hot Pond Area
Transporting reclaimed wood from Woodyard using company equipment
Keep in communication with Envirem drivers, the Arbec debarker operators and the Arbec scale house to ensure consistent flow of wood that meets the mills demands
Perform Pre / Post Inspection on equipment daily and paperwork left in the lunch room. All deficiencies in the equipment must be reported immediately to the Shift Supervisor, Lead Mechanic and/or mechanic helper to resolve issues quickly.
Position is shift work
The 12 hour day shift is from 7 AM 7 PM with the night shift from 7 PM 7 AM. It is expected that the employee reports to work and relieve shifts, 15 minutes before the shift.
Report any nonresolved issues to the General Manager.
Work with Management to identify needs, servicing and planned equipment down times
Equipment must be refueled every shift, including DEF, during the shift with fuel consumption reported in the log book located in the lunch room.
Grapple must be greased every shift.

Qualifications

Understanding of equipment mechanical repairs and servicing
Ability to recognize preventive maintenance opportunities
To have good communication and phone skills
Must be safety minded and aware
Must have a valid driver's license

Working conditions
The jobsite is at Arbec Forest Products, Miramichi, NB. Must be able to handle noise and a fast pace environment. Must be able to work with mínimal supervision.
