Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Quality Audits, the incumbent will be part of a team responsible for conducting quality & compliance audits on the operational branches primarily focused on Ground Operations to ensure compliance to internal and external safety and regulatory requirements and standards set forth by Air Canada, IATA (ISAGO), Transport Canada, FAA, Environment Canada and the Canada Labour Code Part II.

Auditing encompasses all required regulatory compliance programs -Environment, Dangerous Goods, Security and Deicing.

Audits are inclusive of, but not limited to operational branches and stations in Canada, US, and International Stations where there are ground handling operations In-Terminal and/or Baggage and Ramp, including oversight of any third party suppliers who provide an essential service to Air Canada.

Audits include internal and external vendor/supplier audits as well as audits on Express carriers, Ad hoc, and Special Purpose Audits, as required.


Key Functions:


  • Conduct audits on operational divisions within Air Canada including third party suppliers (ground handlers, deicing providers) to monitor the level of compliance with regulations, and industry standards
  • Conducts audits of Environmental Programs across Canada to ensure proper management of storm water, hazardous waste, spill management etc
  • Organize and prepare for the audit with team members
  • Engage the auditee management teams in the audit; distribute preaudit questionnaire; ensure the management teams are familiar with the audit process.
  • Support and/or take responsibility for communication with audit team & station/base manager regarding changes, scheduling, confirm participation.
  • Report consistently and efficiently on results during and at the end of the audit.
  • Monitor the progress of the corrective /preventive actions until the closure of all findings.
  • Share audit results with the station/base & supplier as required; provide honest, unbiased and open communication on performance results
  • Identify, communicate and followup for timely closure of the critical findings requiring immediate action
  • Observe safety improvements and deficiencies in the operations; bring recommendations
  • Track and trend audit results identify and develop solutions to address repetitive findings.
  • Align auditing method and processes with peers; provide input in the development of performance targets as required, requirements for new tools, etc.
  • Act as an auditor or as a lead auditor as required
  • Support the team in the development of audit checklists including audit questions, sample size
  • Support the Manager, Corporate Quality Audits as required for establishing & communicating the audit schedule, prepare team, confirm auditors dates, etc.

Qualifications

  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: Above and Below Wing process and procedures, Environmental Compliance, Ground Support Equipment Maintenance, Security Regulatory Compliance.
  • Ability to travel frequently and work irregular hours, including weekends when required.
  • Team player with strong work ethic and ability to work independently.
  • Good Presentation skills.
  • Selfstarter, customer focused and results driven.

Additional assets include:


  • Training/qualification on CSA Z773 and ISO 1901 23 years experience conducting Environmental Compliance audits
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian environmental regulations at the federal and/or provincial levels
  • Professional accreditation or designation as Environmental Compliance Auditor desirable
  • Accreditation or certification in Quality Auditing and Quality Management Systems (ASQ, CQMgr, CQA, CQE, CQT, IOSA, ISAGO)

  • College or University education preferred
