Scope of work:


Innu Inuit Redpath Limited Partnership (IIR) will be the primary contractor on an underground mine project located on the east coast of Labrador, approximately 350 km north of Goose Bay.

Future mining from the two separate underground deposits will extend the life of this operation for at least another decade.

Both deposits contain Nickel and Copper and at peak production, 2.54 million tons will be mined annually.


Job Summary:


Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the primary role of the Construction Coordinator is to assist Construction Supervisors and Site Engineers with planning, organizing and monitoring activities of the contracted construction scope, to ensure the project construction activities are completed in accordance to company and Redpath standards, safely and efficiently.

To utilize the prescribed IWPs prepared for the work activities and communicate discrepancies in the workplace to the site Engineers and Supervision when changes to the planned work are required.

It is important that upsets resulting in planned deviations be communicated and captured for inclusion in the project schedule, as well as modifications to methodologies incorporated in the IWPs that may affect schedule.

  • Assist project engineering and construction management when necessary, in clarifying or defining parameters and deciding on processes to be utilized
  • Assist construction supervisors with communicating the appropriate IWP to the work crews for the various work packages
  • Work closely with Engineering, Supervision and the crews to achieve planned construction objectives
  • Coordinate activities with construction work crews to achieve client authorized project work schedules
  • Ensure that work crews have current and accurate plans and specifications
  • Establish expectations with subcontractors and vendors to ensure solid understanding of contract requirements (including documentation and information), expectations, and timing of required construction and materials.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a Lead-Construction Miner
  • Ontario Hard Rock Underground Common Core
  • Full Basic (or other provincial equivalent)
  • Ontario Hard Rock Underground Front Line Supervisor
  • Common Core (or other provincial equivalent)
  • Must understand underground work environment
  • Must understand responsibilities of leadership
  • Ability to multi task and work effectively
  • Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently
  • Able to work in team environment, and lead by example
  • Willing to mentor others o Ability to read civil prints
  • Basic understanding of Mine Regulations pertaining to task
  • Ability to conduct risk assessment of specific task
  • Understanding of work related procedures and standards
  • Ability to recognize and resolve problems as required
