In response to Health Canada's call for proposal to address racism and discrimination in Canada's Health Systems, HSO has been successful in securing partnerships and funding to advance Cultural Safety in Accreditation:
Assessment Standard, Methods, Testing and Engagement.

HSO is pleased to work collaboratively with the First Nations Health Authority (FNHA), and other First Nations, Métis and Inuit communities from across the country to co-lead this work.

Together we are striving to strengthen the capacity to respond to Indigenous-specific racism and provide culturally safe, respectful, and racism-free healthcare services.


  • This role will work closely with HSO and partner, the First Nations Health Authority. FNHA is a diverse and transformational health organization of professional, innovative and dedicated team members and leaders. The first of its kind in Canada, FNHA works as a healthandwellness partner with BC First Nations to support selfdetermination and decisionmaking to improve health outcomes.
    Position Summary
  • The Project Lead role is an opportunity to tap into your knowledge and experience in leading projects that are responsible for the design and development of peoplecentered evidencebased health and social services standards, accreditation and learning resources. The Project Lead role is primarily responsible for leading the codesign, with the Project Director and FNHA, of the work of developing and testing tools to support surveyors, the B.C. Client Engagement Team, and client uptake of the BC CSH assessment standard and culturally safe and appropriate methods and resources for selfassessment.

Responsibilities

  • The project Lead is directly responsible for the achievement of the CA project deliverables will lead up to and follow from the completion of the Assessment Ready Standard and include the development of resources and Implementation plan to support awareness building for all involved, including the understanding and adoption of the BC CSH assessment standard

The deliverables include:

  • Codesign data governance strategy and plan (aligned with OCAP)
- and options.

  • Codesign surveyor competencies and accreditation team/infrastructure needs team composition, people and resources required for assessing cultural safety and codesigning surveyor recruitment and training materials and methods.
  • Codesign recruitment, training materials and methods for ongoing education for surveyors.
  • Codesign an approach to a CS&H priority process, if confirmed as one of the assessment directions.
  • Codesign, with FNHA and CA input, internal and external communication and engagement plan for Accreditation Canada client engagement team and clients using an ADCAR change management strategy: material, learning, orientation, launch approach, implementation strategy, plan and options.
  • Gather client organization feedback to inform the "What We Heard & Recommendations Report".
  • Prepare a final "What We Heard & Recommend: Cultural Safety & Humility Implementation Scoping Report".
  • Contribute to the Design, implementation and monitoring of the CA workplan managed by the Project Co-Ordinator.
  • Coordinates CA input to and participates in the codesigning, developing and testing of an Indigenousled BC CSH assessment standard and culturally safe and appropriate methods and resources for selfassessment by Accreditation Canada client organizations in BC: tool kit, survey to client organizations, final what we heard.
  • Coaches, mentors, motivates and supervises project team members and contractors, and influences them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
  • Providing critical thinking and content development support and leadership, either through direct content development and/or in partnership with other Subject Matter Experts and team members, to ensure content aligns with HSO approaches and glossary and when applicable, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for developing standards and learning resources.
  • Facilitating decisionmaking process including providing advice and guidance to team members and partners when decisions or options are required.
