Job Summary:


Patient Safety


The Human Factors Consultant will be responsible for conducting studies, carrying out evaluations of human work systems using human factors engineering and ergonomic principles to optimize usability, cost, quality, safety or performance with a specific focus on the interaction between the human, environment, processes, systems and equipment.


The goal is to improve patient safety by using human factors science to develop timely, valuable, and evidence-based solutions that reduce risk and contribute to the design of a high-quality and safe healthcare system.

Qualifications:


  • Successful completion of Bachelor's Degree Human Factors Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Systems Design Engineering, Cognitive Psychology, or recognized equivalent as acceptable to the Hospital
  • Minimum four (4) years of relevant, recent experiance
  • Human Factors experience (specifically in a highlyregulated, hospital or healthcare environment is preferred)
  • Excellent problem recognition and problemsolving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service skills
  • Effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to set priorities
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member
  • Ability to work as an autonomous professional
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and data visualization tools
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's Mission, Vision and Values
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Immunization Requirements:


  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis.
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step) and COVID vaccine series.
