Description

Scope of Position:
The intern will assist in developing, maintaining, testing and documenting automation tools used by the Transmission & Analytics team.

The analyst will learn the basics of the tools used by the Transmission and Analytics team, such as PROMOD, for the purpose of understanding the needs and challenges faced by the team to support the creation of automated solutions.

Also, he/she will help support the hardware systems and environments that are used to run production cost models like PROMOD.

Responsibilities:

Assist in developing automated reports for inputs, outputs, processes related to development of longterm basis and power price forecasts (e.g. Python reports for Promod inputs and outputs)
Identify opportunities for new automated solutions by having discussions with the Transmission and Analytics team
Turn ideas into high quality testable software requirements
Quickly create prototypes and seek feedback to deliver value quickly to the team
Collaborate with Transmission Fundamental team to support validation efforts between their models and market operations/data
Collaborate with the GIS team to support the development of tools requiring mapping of geographic data

Qualifications:

Demonstrated proficiency with VB, R, Python, Jupyter, Excel and MS Office Suite. Demonstrated competency in other modeling, statistical analysis, and/or optimization software strongly desired
Familiar with the following Python packages is a plus: Streamlit, Streamlitaggrid, Pandas, Numpy.
Familiar with Agile methodology
Proficient in using Github
Understanding of North American electricity markets is a plus
Strong relationship development skills and the ability to work successfully with peers and other teams across the company.
The ability to function in a team environment and demonstrate a strong motivation to succeed in a very fast paced environment.
