ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS:

Reporting to the Director of Development, the Associate Director of Marketing and Communications will support Spirit North with the creation and distribution of engaging content across our various platforms to raise awareness, support fund development, strengthen our work with communities, and tell our story.


Responsible for developing and executing communication and marketing strategies for targeted audiences including donors, prospective donors, Indigenous communities and schools, and the public, this position will include writing, editing, and publishing information that effectively supports the organization's strategic marketing and communication goals and objectives.


An experienced storyteller and creative thinker, the Associate Director of Marketing and Communications will be experienced in long form writing, donor communications, social media; and light graphic design; working to make connections across our diverse team and immersing themselves in the unique culture of the organization to highlight and share our stories.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Strategic Planning: Develop comprehensive marketing and communication strategies aligned with the organization's goals and objectives. Identify target audiences and markets to tailor messaging and campaigns effectively.
  • Campaign Management: Develop and execute annual strategic marketing and communications campaigns to effectively reach and engage target audiences through various channels such as print and digital media.
  • Content Development: Lead the creation and content development for key marketing, communications, and donor materials such as the website, social media platforms, photos, videos, brochures, annual reports, newsletters, donor proposals, impact reports, and grants.
  • Media Relations: Lead the planning and execution of Spirit North's media strategy. This includes managing relationships with local, regional, and national media outlets, pitching story ideas about the organization, and preparing press releases as appropriate.
  • Digital Platforms: Lead and coordinate the strategic content development and maintenance of Spirit North's website and digital and social media platforms.
  • Budget Management: Manage marketing budgets effectively, allocating resources to maximize impact and ROI.
  • Evaluation: Track, measure and report effectiveness of communication programs, marketing campaigns and events.
  • Brand Management: Responsible for brand development, ensuring consistency across internal and external marketing and communication materials.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, social/digital communications, communications, or related field preferred. Comparable education and experience will be considered.
  • Excellent writing and grammar skills, experience with writing effective copy; planning and executing marketing campaigns; donor materials and publications; social media management and marketing techniques; and developing presentations using various software (writing samples will be requested).
  • Excellent analytical skills for tracking, measuring, and reporting.
  • Experience working with a nonprofit organization preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced environment with compet
