What You Will Do:


The Aquatic Supervisor is responsible for the overall planning and delivery of aquatic programming, regular aquatic training sessions and staff meetings.

The Aquatic Supervisor is responsible for monitoring the effectiveness of each staff person while on deck as either an Instructor or Lifeguard including ensuring that the Instructors provide safe, enjoyable swimming lessons.

Additionally, this position is responsible for reporting to the General Manager any issues that may arise during the day to day operations of the aquatic facility on a regular basis and maintaining open communication with the General Manager as well as the parents of the children in their programs.

The Aquatic Supervisor will ensure the high level of quality within the aquatic facility and all of the programs offered.


Specific Responsibilities Include:


  • Provide deck level leadership, coaching and mentoring to part time lifeguards and swim instructors
  • Maintain the quality of the Aquatic Program.
  • Maintain open communication with staff and parents. Deal with any concerns and refer to the General Manager.
  • Planning and delivery of all inservice training events and staff meetings.
  • Lifeguard & Teach Swimming Lessons, as needed
  • Deliver Advanced Leadership Certification Courses (Bronze levels, ALC, First Aid, etc.)
  • Deliver Aqua Fitness Classes
  • Greet each member, participant, potential member, volunteer and staff with a smile, using their name whenever possible. Respond to any questions or concerns immediately in a helpful and positive manner.
  • Provide assistance and information to each member, participant, potential member, volunteer and staff in a friendly manner
  • Work efficiently and proactively with all departments to ensure excellent communication regarding all programs and services
  • Possess an excellent working knowledge of the current program brochure
  • Foster a good public image for the facility in particular and the YMCA of Central East Ontario in general.
  • Act in a manner that promotes the values of the YMCA of Central East Ontario.
  • Respond to direction from Senior Staff in a positive, helpful and immediate manner

What you will bring to the position:

  • Minimum 2 years teaching experience, YMCA experience preferred.
  • Supervisory experience
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Standard First Aid & CPR C, AED
  • NLS
  • Recognized Swim Instructor Qualification (Red Cross, LSS). YMCA Swim Instructors Certification an Asset
  • Lifesaving Society Advanced Instructor an asset
  • Standard First Aid Instructor & Examiner an asset
  • Bronze Cross Examiner an asset
  • YMCA Aqua Fitness Instructor an asset
  • Be enthusiastic and energetic
  • Display leadership skills and have a strong desire to share your skills and experience with others
