Business Systems Analyst


What is the opportunity?
This is a Business Systems Analyst position at Royal Bank of Canada.

Business Systems Analysts in our team define and help deliver technology projects for the RBC Global Asset Management (RBC GAM) line of business and for the operations teams that support that line of business.

RBC Global Asset Management is part of RBC Wealth Management, the largest full-service wealth manager in Canada.


What will you do?

  • Deliver projects and work requests in Agile and Iterative Waterfall project frameworks
  • Create artifacts, including user stories, business and functional requirements documents, data models, data mappings, context and process flow diagrams and prototypes
  • Build and maintain a reusable knowledge base to support future initiatives, following RBC GAM standards
  • Systems analysis, including some reverse engineering, in order to work with the implementation team to propose solutions
  • Assess and communicate the impact of changes considering time, effort, and business tactical and strategic goals
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to business partners and senior management
  • Proactively lead and coordinate team efforts towards successful initiatives

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:


  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, including communication and conflict resolution
  • Intermediate knowledge of T-SQL, stored procedures, entity relationship diagrams, and other data modelling techniques
  • Excellent understanding of Software Development Life Cycle and change control
  • Good understanding of technology components such as REST APIs, file transfer protocols, web servers, relational data bases, SQL.
  • 5+ years of Business Systems Analysis and systems integration experience

Nice-to-have:


  • Experience delivering projects in large enterprise environments
  • Experience in financial services business or technology, Wealth Management, Global Asset Management, or Brokerage
  • Experience working in Agile oriented teams and Azure cloud
  • Agile, PMI, ITIL certifications
