The Job:_
The Human Resources Manager will provide leadership and HR expertise to support The Other Bird in achieving its organizational objectives through long-term strategic HR planning.
This position works in partnership with The Other Bird Executive Team specifically in developing, overseeing, and guiding The Other Bird's long-term, people-centric goals & growth.
Major areas of focus will include HR strategic planning, compensation & benefits, legal compliance, recruitment & retention, training & development, and employee relations.
The Human Resources Manager will also assume a leadership role in developing a culture that promotes engagement & performance in alignment with The Other Bird's mission & core values.
-Main Duties & Responsibilities:_
STRATEGIC PLANNING:
- Design a roadmap of ongoing & new innovation and a viable people strategy aligning with The Other Bird's business operations and core values.
- Contribute to the company's longterm goals and objectives by partnering and collaborating with The Other Bird Executive Team.
- Drive The Other Bird's proactive recruitment strategy to attract the right talent to the right places.
- Enhance and update company policies and guiding principles to ensure a solid operational foundation while promoting company culture, as well as The Other Bird's mission & core values.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
- Design and administer compensation strategies to remain equitable and competitive.
- Actively participate in budget reviews and evaluations with The Other Bird's Chief Operating Officer.
- Research and identify new rewards & recognition strategies to continually enhance employee engagement and motivation.
TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT:
- Identify new, effective and efficient training solutions while continually assessing existing requirements, for all roles within The Other Bird.
- Execute personalized Development Plans will all managerial staff in conjunction with The Other Bird's Vice-President of Operations.
- Create an active succession plan, and initiate coaching of individuals with growth and leadership potentials to reinforce retention.
EMPLOYEE RELATIONS:
- Support management and staff through the confidential resolution of complex human resources issues, resulting in a mínimal impact to business operations and reputation.
- Address and resolve inappropriate employee behavior, and performance issues and resolve conflicts between employees as needed.
- Conduct investigations, as necessary, into employee concerns and complaints, ensuring the applicable company and legislated processes are followed.
- Advise The Other's Bird Executive Team and/or management on options for courses of action, and the best recommendation of those options for all employee relation issues.
How Much Work & When:_
- 40 hours per week
- Must be able to balance weekly schedule based on business needs.
- Must be able to adjust hours for administrative, social, or other needs outside normal business hours.
- We don't want you to overwork, and we don't want you to underwork. We just expect you to manage your time.
Where You Work:_
- This position is based out of our Main Office in downtown Hamilton, ON.
- Reliable transportation and a G Class Driver's License are requirements for this position.
Your Bosses Are:_
- The Other Bird's Chief Operating Officer
Ideally, You Have Experience / Education:_
- Post Secondary Diploma/Degree in Human Resources is required.
- 5+ years of progressive Human Resources/peopleleadership experience is required.
- Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) Designation is preferred.
- Experience with implementing and working with HRIS systems is required.
- Demonstrated ability to have a positive impact on business outcomes is required.
- Extended work experience in the Hospitality Industry will be an asset.
- Experience with Google Workspace, including Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Calendar will be an asset.

$75,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
