REACH Nexus is a nation-wide, innovative, virtual laboratory for intervention research, participatory evaluation, and applied program science in HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C, and other sexually transmitted and blood borne infections.
We work as a partnership that includes people living with HIV/AIDS, community based organizations, front-line service providers, health researchers, and federal, provincial, and regional policy makers.
Be part of a major public health movement to help end HIV in Canada in five years by bringing HIV self-tests to market and improving linkage to care and HIV prevention efforts.
This progressive role will support major health / policy-relevant research focused on addressing key HIV priority areas and populations, and supporting a national network dedicated to reaching the undiagnosed and the reduction of HIV stigma.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Research Coordinator will work as the National Implementer for the _Ending HIV Stigma in Canada - Mobilizing Knowledge with Community Leadership for Action_ research grant.
Duties /Responsibilities:
Clerical/Support
- General office duties e.g. mailings, courier services, photocopying, etc.
- Collection, transcription and entry of program related information and data
- Note taking
- Present program related information, including written study reports when necessary
- Regular use of and proficiency with online/virtual/digital technology platforms
- Coordinate, catalogue and document contracts/MOUs
- Coordinate, manage and document the dissemination of funding / honorarium to support people with lived experience (PWLE) engagement
- Conduct environmental scan and literature review to support documentation materials
- Support workshop development and implementation
Program Activities
- Assist in setting project goals for this new program
- Engage and build relationships with key stakeholders, community agencies and partners to support REACH's initiatives
- Establish a community of practice and an online national/crossregional repository for knowledge and resource sharing; Support recruitment and ongoing operations of the community of practice
- Coordinate the activities of the Capacity Building Working Group
- Support the planning, development and implementation of presentations, curriculum and workshops including the delivery a stigma reduction intervention and peer engagement training workshop and a peer leadership and engagement resource guide.
- Support the planning, development and promotion of learning modules for people from communitybased organizations, PLHIV leaders and potential REACH Stigma Intervention pilot teams.
- Support the hiring and supervision of project peer coordinators to work with the REACH Stigma Intervention Pilot Teams
- Support the development of measures to evaluate the process and program
- Support collection and analysis of evaluation data
- Support report writing and presentation of results from REACH initiatives (i.e. program performance for funders and stakeholders)
- Support the REACH Stigma Intervention Pilot Teams in the implementation and evaluation of stigma reduction pilot projects.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills
- Minimum undergraduate degree, or demonstrable equivalent combination of specialized education and experience
- Minimum 2 years' work/volunteer experience and interest in HIV/AIDS communitybased programming/research
- Sensitivity towards issues of homophobia, racism, sexism and other forms of stigma and discrimination
- Superior organizational skills to manage multiple projects in a timely manner and flexibility to adapt to changing workload.
- Excellent verbal and communication skills
- Excellent critical thinking skills
- Professionalism and selfmotivation
- Good personal and program time/detail management skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) essential
- Knowledge and experience with video communication software (e.g. Zoom etc.)
- Familiarity with online educational module development
