Your Opportunity:
This is an opportunity for a summer 3 month term for a Maintenance Worker I position is a primarily a grounds maintenance position and is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the grounds at the Alberta Children's Hospital as well as, other sites in the FM&E directors' portfolio when needed. This position also provides as needed coverage to support grounds maintenance for the ACH site when required. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the grounds exterior appearances. Tasks required are including but not limited to the following. Manual labour, lawn mowing, rakes, waters, aerates and edges lawns; plants, weeds, and waters flower beds; plants, prunes and trims trees and shrubs; applies fertilizers; cleans lubricates and performs minor repair and parts replacement on grounds equipment and machinery. Operates equipment; removes all debris and cleans driveways and parking areas; removes, replaces, cutting blades/brushes/ equipment. Performs minor equipment and maintenance duties such as cleaning and changing filters and fluids for various equipment; replaces hinges, ceiling tiles and castors on portable equipment; caulks windows, doors, and fixtures; unplugs drains, maintains grounds equipment, and cleans work areas as needed. Collects / disposes of exterior garbage. Washes equipment with water hoses/high pressure cleaning equipment. Washes exterior windows. Removes, replaces, and installs signage. Barricades areas as required. Ensures all cleaning equipment is operated and maintained safely. Completes and files daily checklists. Assists tradesmen and performs other duties as required.
Description:
As a Maintenance Worker I, you may perform routine tasks related to grounds keeping and facility maintenance. Working independently and/or as part of team, you may maintain lawns, flowerbeds, trees and shrubs, collect and dispose garbage, remove snow and ice, spread salt and sand, clean mechanical rooms and shop areas, and assist tradespeople and other maintenance staff as needed.
Required Qualifications:Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent. Possession of a valid driver's licence.
Additional Required Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:Completion of Grade 12 or GED equivalent.
