Precision Medicine & Genetic Services Unit, as part of the Pharmaceutical, Laboratory & Blood Services Division, engages in strategic relationships with patients, families and a vast range of stakeholders and sector expertise (including health authority agencies, universities, researchers, life sciences industry partners, provincial, national, and federal partners, and other ministries) to develop: the long term vision for provincial precision medicine and genetic services.


The Role:
This is a unique and exciting opportunity to build your career as a policy analyst.

Reporting to the Director, Precision Medicine and Genetic Services, the policy analyst is responsible for assisting in the research, analysis, development and implementation of strategic policy and legislation for personalized medicine and genomic services health care service delivery.

Developmental Opportunity. Applicants will be appointed to the appropriate classification level based on their qualifications.


Job Overview (Entry Level - Grid 18)

The position provides project management, and supports policy analysis, policy advisory services and the evaluation of issues impacting the ministry's business by conducting research and analysis of issues.


Job Overview (Intermediate Level - Grid 21)

To manage smaller policy development projects or portions of larger strategic policy development projects as assigned by a policy project lead.


Job Overview (Working Level - Grid 24)
To independently manage assigned policy development projects focused on the review and revision of existing ministry programs or legislation.


Job Requirements:


Grid 18:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Health or Social Sciences, or related field and 6 months of *progressive, recent, and related experience; OR
  • Diploma in Business or Public Administration, or Health Sciences, or a related field and 1year *progressive, recent, and related experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Grid 21:


  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Public Administration, Health or Social Sciences, or a related field and 18 months of *progressive, recent, and related experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Grid 24:


  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Public Administration, Health or Social Sciences, or a related field and 2 years' of *progressive, recent, and related experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Progressive, recent, and related experience must include:
  • Experience researching policy issues and conducting policy analysis.
  • Experience managing projects and/or project components.
  • Experience providing advice and recommendations and preparing highlevel briefing and other informational materials for senior executive.
  • Demonstrated writing and analytical experience.
  • Experience in the health care or social policy sector.
  • Master's degree and 1 year of *progressive, recent, and related experience.
