MARINA EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Equipment Operator assists a small team of employees whose work involves the safe and efficient launch and haul

out of customer's boats both large and small. The position is also involved in the blocking and storage of customer's

boats, and re-locating boats around the marina property. The role participates in the masting and de-masting of sail

boats.

The Equipment Operator must be capable of safely, and efficiently operating all marina equipment.


DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work in a team to provide courteous customer service at the Outer Harbour Marina
  • Using the equipment responsibly, assist the Sub-Foreperson and/or Supervisor in launch and haulout activities
  • In the absence of the Sub-Foreperson and/or Supervisor, perform the launch and haulout activities, reporting
progress to the manager on site

  • Assist the Sub-Foreperson and Supervisor in other aspects of the marina maintenance as directed
  • Must comply with all Health and Safety policies, procedures, SOPs and/or legislated requirements and must wear
designated safety equipment (PPE).

  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 35 years previous general marina experience
  • Must be able to operate and assist in routine maintenance of marina equipment such as a travel lift, hydraulic
trailer, crane truck, power washing equipment and other, or have the ability to learn

  • Experience in launching, haulout, and blocking boats, as well as stepping and destepping masts
  • Valid Ontario Class "D" Drivers License
  • Pleasure Craft Operator Card
  • Working at Heights certificate
  • Fork lift training and experience
  • First Aid and CPR certificate

ABILITIES

  • Must have safe working habits**
  • Must be able to exercise good judgement in the operation of equipment**
  • Must be able to work in a team with limited supervision**
  • Must have good communication and customer service skills**
  • Must be able to swim and tread water for 2 minutes**
  • Must be physically fit, able to work outdoors in all weather, climb and work at varying heights**
    HOURS OF WORK:71⁄2 hours per day (Mon-Fri)
    LOCATION:475 Unwin Avenue, Toronto

RATE OF PAY:
$29.46 per hour


SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Criminal record check will be conducted on hire
  • Must have own transportation, there is no public transit to this location

This is a Union represented position belonging to CUPE Local 416
