CLINICAL LEAD

SUMMARY

:


As the Clinical Lead at Wakenagun Youth Healing Lodge, you will be responsible for providing leadership in the planning and implementation of innovative approaches for delivering quality and efficient services to support/promote health and illness prevention strategies.

Your role will involve providing one-on-one mental health and addiction counseling to clients and acting as a clinical resource for staff, supporting staff training and development, and promoting education and research.

Collaboration with the interdisciplinary team and family members is also essential to provide treatment and case management services that are both inclusionary and flexible for individuals with mental illness and concurrent disorders.

Together with the leadership team and other healthcare providers, we will strive to achieve excellence in client and family-centered care, enhancing quality of life for those we serve.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

:


  • Develop treatment strategies using methods such as behavioral therapy and psychotherapeutic techniques.
  • Enhance clients' cognitive and behavioral changes in line with the overall treatment plan.
  • Build strong therapeutic relationships with clients and provide regular individual counseling and support.
  • Conduct comprehensive mental health and addiction clinical and risk assessments, formulate treatment and discharge plans, and provide crisis intervention.
  • Strive to achieve excellence in client and familycentered care and enhance the quality of life in collaboration with the leadership team and other healthcare providers.
  • Advise the team to use researchbacked methods for client treatment.
  • Act as a clinical resource for staff, support staff training and development, and promote education and research.
  • Develop and deliver educational materials for staff, clients, and families based on education theories, principles, and best practices.
  • Promote a supportive, creative learning environment and continuous quality improvement.
  • Maintain client case documentation and files.
    Analyze and resolve problems and conflicts that arise.

  • Lead change and support staff through the transition.
  • Maintain confidentiality related to clients at all times.
  • Provide On-Call support to Youth Wellness Workers after normal business hours (including weekends and holidays) on a prescheduled rotational basis.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

ACCOUNTABILITY

:

The Clinical Lead is under the day-to-day supervision of the Treatment Services Manager, with overall performance to the Chief Executive Officer


QUALIFICATIONS

:


  • Knowledge of mental disorders, addictions, and concurrent disorders and the treatment and principles of recovery in mental illness and addictions
  • Knowledge of First nations issues, such as effects of residential school, colonization, intergenerational trauma and determinants of health.
  • Knowledge of psychosocial rehabilitation methodology, chemical dependency and addictions treatment, psychopharmacology (indications and sideeffects), and psychotherapeutic and counseling skills
  • Knowledge of evidencebased best practices and issues in the care and treatment of mental disorders, addictions, and concurrent disorders
  • Knowledge of basic research, e.g. research ethics, research question, hypothesis, and qualitative and quantitative data analysis methods
  • Knowledge of legislation and government policies and procedures that relate to the service population
  • Ability to provide effective leadership, supervision, work direction, and consultation
  • Ability to communicate (orally and in writing) and collaborate effectively with clients and their families, coworkers, physicians, other healthcare staff, and staff of external agencies
  • Must possess a valid Ontario Driver's License and be willing to travel if required.
  • Must provide a clear criminal reference check (PVSC), which includes screening for vulnerable sector.
  • Must be fully vaccinated for COVID19, unless unable as per a protected ground in the Human Rights Code.

Education/Experience

  • Masters of Social Work Degree
  • Registered with Social Work Body
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role
  • Experience in working with and networking with First Nation communities

Pay:
$95,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
