Reporting to the President, the Vice President - Finance is responsible for ensuring the business achieves its reporting, treasury, tax optimization, and compliance goals.

They will be responsible for managing a financial accounting team.

The role will oversee both day to day functional reporting as well as numerous project initiatives at any given time.


As one of the portfolio companies under the Navigtr Group, this VP will lead the finance function for the Travel Edge business unit, and uphold the accounting and reporting standards of the organization through building strong relationships internal to finance and cross company with other functions/ business units.


Responsibilities

  • Manage the overall financial position of the company according with Group standards and policies
  • Act as a resource and aid to executive management with respect to financial information, issues, and reports
  • Work with operational and support areas to understand the goals and objectives, key drivers of success, information and measurement systems, and processes and reporting
  • Working with Group reporting group to develop, direct, and provide financial analysis of operations by evaluating trends, studying revenue opportunities, establishing critical measurements, accumulating resources, and resolving problems
  • Lead the finance and accounting functions including annual budgeting, forecasting, business planning, reporting, capital planning, audits, and cost control
  • Translate the strategic and business plans for financial planning and accounting into operational plans
  • Monitor financial performance against budgets and explore, analyze and report variances for discussion and decisionmaking
  • Develop a process of assessing and reporting on the overall performance of the company
  • Oversee the yearend audit process
  • Recommend new practices and/or innovative opportunities in alignment with Group
  • Ensure the effective performance of all team members
  • Communicate, engage and interact with internal and external stakeholders
  • Establish monthly reporting, annual forecasting/budgeting, project reporting, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for Ownership review
  • Develop policies and procedures and ensure data and information are brought forward to inform the development of financial, procurement, security, and risk management policies that conform with Group standards and policies

Qualifications:


  • Bachelors of Commerce/Business Administration required
  • Canadian accounting designation CPA a must, complemented by 8 to 10 years working in a senior role leading the finance function in a multistream business. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Good grasp of Canadian and US corporate tax with prior experience in either a firm advisory role or in industry settings where the function was managed directly
  • Advanced level Excel, Intermediate level PowerPoint skills
  • Prior hands on experience maintaining and using accounting software, ideally MS Dynamics Great Plains, or MS Navision an asset
  • Systems savvy and able to grasp system interconnectivity issues as they pertain to accounting controls/reconciliation functions
  • Direct experience with an ERP Systems implementation an asset
  • Fully proficient in consolidations accounting including managing complex intercompany transactions/reconciliations, FX translations, CTA proofs, etc.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to present to executive level management
  • Highly functional in a fast paced, constantly changing entrepreneurial environment
  • Effective project management, prioritization, multitasking, and time management skills to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work through conflict and build trust both upwards and downwards
  • Low ego and highly collaborative leadership style
