The Opportunity


Our Remediation, Waste & Operational Environment Services team is looking to add an #EnergyProblemSolver in Prince George, BC to support Canada Gas Operations, including the integration of Coastal GasLink into an operating asset.


We are seeking a Senior Environmental Specialist who has the knowledge and experience to provide environmental expertise to Canada Gas Operations, specifically for assets located in BC.

This individual has the proven skills, competencies, and capacity to support daily pipeline operations and ensure compliance with federal and provincial environmental legislation, and conformance to project commitments and company procedures.

The Environmental Specialist will provide environmental and planning support to Operations staff.


What You'll Do- Ensure environmental regulatory compliance by providing frequent, field-based environmental support to Operations staff- Implement TC Energy's Environment Program, including standard practices and procedures to ensure compliance and effective environmental protection- Manage annual environmental activities as required: facility inspections, hazardous waste management, vegetation and noxious weed control, site water management, pre-job environmental hazard identification, etc.- Develop, track, and forecast regional environmental budgets- Collaborate with internal environment peers to align regional environmental work with corporate and Canada Gas Operations goals and objectives- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., field operations, regulators) to identify and mitigate/manage environmental risks- Inspect pipeline facilities to ensure compliance with environment-related company expectations and legislative requirements- Actively participate in the Joint Health, Safety and Environment Committee (JHSEC) and regional Emergency Preparedness Team (EPT)- Complete external regulatory or permit reporting as required (stormwater management, soil quality, etc.)

- Participate in environment-related incident investigations- Attend regional pre-job meetings and review/provide feedback to ensure environmental hazards and risks are identified, evaluated, and managed appropriately- Participate in environmental regulatory inspections and ensure all findings are communicated and addressed- Support stakeholder engagement with landowners and Indigenous communities, as required- Communicate new/revised environment program requirements to Operations personnel within the region; develop training materials as required- Lead or assist environmental assessment or monitoring activities- Review environmental company operating procedures and processes; identify gaps, provide recommendations, and support field-level implementation- Provide emergency response support within BC and across Canada Gas Operations, as necessary- Actively participate in environmental associations and community engagement initiatives

Minimum Qualifications- University degree in Environmental or Geological Sciences or Engineering (or similar field of study)- Minimum 10 years of environmental/industry work experience- Knowledge of natural gas pipeline operations- Experience working with federal and provincial environmental regulatory agencies (BC Energy Regulator, BC Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy, BC Ministry of Environment, Canada Energy Regulator, Environment and Climate Change Canada), and knowledge of provincial and federal legislation


Preferred Qualifications- Relevant professional designation or certification- Broad range of project management skills (planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk assessment and time management)- Ability to create and sustain critical partnerships, and effectively network across multiple business functions- Strong problem solving and decision-making skills to resolve complex issues and present recommendations- Excellent leadership skills that promote a positive influence on the work of others through demonstration of technical expertise and effective interpersonal communication- Emergency response experience and training (e.g., Incident Command System (ICS))- Strong verbal and written communication skills- Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract (record) for review- Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings, or training (estimated 10-15% of work schedule)- Stay overnight away from home base (estimated up to 10% of work schedule)- Provide on-call emergency response support as required (e.g.
