Machinist

Raise Workforce is working with a leader in Ontario that provides electric motor service and offers a full range of services including rewinds, motor overhauls, dynamic balancing and full machining, and is looking for a Machinist to join their team right away.
Responsibilities:
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
- Layout, measure and mark metal stock in order to display placement of cuts
- Perform machining of regular size parts and large diameter parts to standard specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, boring, and grinders.
- Exceptional in measuring, examining and testing of completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications using instruments such as micrometers.
- Set up, adjust, and operate basic machine tools to perform machining operations.
- Efficient in aligning large parts and secure onto holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
- Attentive monitoring the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
- Reviewing sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products, and determine product dimensions and tolerances.
- Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Basic machining experience, including use of mills, lathes, grinders and drill presses, etc.
- High school diploma or equivalent technical training.
- At least 3 years' experience interpreting basic mechanical drawings.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
- Able to follow basic health and safety procedures and protocols.
- MIG, TIG, STICK welding experience an asset
