Position Overview:

Job Description:

Capital Program Planning

  • Establishing and leading multiyear facility capital investment programs.
  • Forecasting future capital requirements based on businessdriven needs assessments.
  • Evaluating and recommending resourcing structures to address program requirements.
Project Design & Execution

  • Managing multiple/concurrent large and complex projects following the Finning Project Management and Continuous Improvement Methodologies.
  • Developing and maintaining various project charters and roadmaps with business owners, process owners, and other key stakeholders.
  • Managing project budgets, tracking, and forecasting project/program spend, facilitating invoicing and payments to external contractors.
  • Contract development, execution, and dispute resolution.
  • Sourcing, tendering, evaluating and awarding scopes of work.
  • Problem solving facilityrelated issues, providing solutions, and ensuring alignment with operational stakeholders.
  • Engaging and leading external architects, designers, general contractors, office furniture providers, individual tradespeople, etc. on facility/construction projects.
Stakeholder Relationship Management & Collaboration

  • Collaborating with multiple levels within the Finning organization to ensure alignment on scope and successful delivery of Facility projects/programs.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships, managing communications, stakeholder expectations, and risks with business partners and key stakeholders.
  • Coaching, mentoring, and overseeing program/project teams and staff on program/project management tools and methodology (Project Excellence, etc.).
  • Partnering with internal Legal, Procurement and IT teams on contracts and vendor sourcing
  • Championing disciplined program/project management within the Finning organization.

Education & Experience:

  • Postsecondary degree or diploma in Business, Engineering, Construction Management or other related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing "upward" among senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading diverse teams.
  • Over 7 years' experience in Project and/or Program Management discipline.
  • 5 to 7 years of diverse roles and increasing leadership responsibilities across major projects and programs.
  • Construction, design or trades experience is an asset.
  • Consulting experience is an asset.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation an asset.
  • Training in Process Management, Change Management, Quality Management, and/or Lean Methodologies is an asset.
  • Experience with process improvement/process reengineering or leading transformation programs an asset.
