The role of
Project Manager/Estimator works closely with all stakeholders to ensure that project tenders are completed on time and open projects progress efficiently and stay on schedule.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Corresponds with senior management to decide on tender opportunities that we wish to pursue
  • Directs and works alongside project coordinator/estimator to put together bid sheets and decide on subcontractor list
  • Responsible for tender closings including following up with subcontractors to finalize pricing, bid bond, references, any other applicable information
  • Finalize tender submission with senior management before final submission
  • Review contract documents once awarded. Retrieve final bonds, insurance etc. to complete the contract.
  • Reviews letter of intents, and purchase orders prior to issuance to subcontractors and vendors
  • Responsible for all submissions to the owner
  • Develops work plan in response to estimate file with assistance from the site supervisor
  • Maintains flow of information between project team, consultants and owner
  • Issue site instructions, contemplated change orders, etc to applicable subcontractors
  • Creates project baseline schedule including the work breakdown structure, and progress schedule updates as required for the work. Maintain project schedule
  • Works with Site supervisor to coordinate subtrades and vendors as required for the work
  • Compile all submittals as required for successful completion and closeout of the project
  • Stay in daily contact site supervisor to schedule/strategize/report on job progress/job changes etc. Visit each jobsite on occasion. (Biweekly onsite meeting)
  • Collaborate with subcontractors to resolve jobsite issues as they arise
  • Continuously update and compare estimated quantities with actual quantities used
  • Provides redlined asbuilts and O&M manuals as required for the work
  • Leads site meetings with subcontractors and internal staff
  • Participates in owner and design coordination meetings with consultants and site supervisor
  • Approves and process invoices, work authorities and purchase orders
  • Monthly financial reporting with senior management to review the budget sheet and maintain the project in good financial health. Includes projection reporting and presenting an updated budget sheet
  • Other duties as assigned.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS / ABILITIES

Experience / Education

  • Postsecondary education in Construction Management or Project Management
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as Project Coordinator (Heavy civil construction, mechanical, electrical, concrete, water / wastewater)
  • Previous work experience in municipal infrastructure projects is preferred

Skills & Abilities

  • Previous work experience troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving onsite issues
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to read construction design drawings and technical specifications
  • Proficient in use of MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.) and Google G suite
  • Highly organized with ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands
  • Strategic and solutionsoriented with strong problem solving skills
  • Significant experience working with subcontractors including issuing purchase orders and reviewing subcontract agreements and scheduling
  • Detailed understanding of construction life cycle from project start up to closeout
  • Valid G driver's license
  • Ability to legally work in Canada
