    Position Summary:

    The IntakeCoordinator is responsible for the implementation, coordination and reportingof the intake process for the Academic Upgrading (AU) Program (A751). The AU Program is a Literacy and Basic Skills(LBS) program for applicants who wish to improve their literacy, numeracy,science and/or computer skills in order to maintain or upgrade theiracademic/essential skills.

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Responding to phone calls and walk-ins to determine eligibility based on the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD) requirements.
  • Organizing and facilitating step 1 of the intake process: bi-weekly information sessions, which may vary due to participants' needs. The intake coordinator frequently must adapt information during session to suit participants' needs and responding to Q&A.
  • Ensuring interested applicants' complete step 2 of the intake process: registration form.
  • Referring ineligible applicants to other programs or external agencies.
  • Ensuring applicants conduct step 3 of the intake process: assessments by contacting them to book assessment date.
  • Providing individual follow-up information to applicants who have not completed all necessary admissions' steps.
  • Collecting SIN and Immigration Status information/documentation for all accepted applicants.
  • Informing all accepted students of start dates and program registration dates.
  • Providing student information to R/O to create GBC ID & complete course registration for all new students.
  • Ensuring all accepted students' complete step 4 of the intake process: meeting with counsellors to complete learner plan.
  • Attending and advising on step 5 of the intake process: orientation.
  • Providing front-desk reception support to The School of Work and College Preparation as required.
  • Responding to applicants/students' questions about digital technologies: MFA, Office 365, ID & Passwords log-in information, etc.
  • Other related dutiesas assigned.

    • Educational andExperience Requirements:

  • Secondary school completion or equivalency.
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience working in a demanding service environment effectively on the front-line and dealing with diversity of students as well as sound knowledge navigating computer software ( spreadsheets, Ministry's databases, and processing programs).
  • Practical experience guiding and advising post-secondary students/applicants in a educational or community setting.

  • The College requires proof of degrees, credentials or equivalencies from accredited regional or federal post-secondary institutions and/or their international equivalents. Credentials may require validation at the time of interviews or offer.
