    ABOUT OUR OPERATION

    The objective of Sanajiksanut is to increase Inuit manpower in all of AEM's Nunavut operations by contributing to the development of skills and competencies of the Inuit population in the Kivalliq region. The Sanajiksanut Process is composed of different steps to gain employment: Employment Information Session, Online Application, Pre-employment Training, and Employment. In completing these stages , applicants will better prepare themselves for the labour market as well as for a potential job opportunity with AEM or one of its contractors.

    YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

    Reporting to the Environment Coordinator, t he Environment Helper is part of the Environment Department and collaborates with other departments of the mine. The Environment Helper will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

    · Perform calibration on water monitoring equipment;

    · Perform water sampling (bottle preparation, inventory, execution, etc.);

    · Perform wildlife monitoring (caribou studies, deterrence, etc.);

    · Perform environmental l inspections & raise environmental awareness;

    · Support in spill response;

    · Support environmental department in field activities including equipment maintenance (snowmobile, boating, etc.);

    · Support data management of environmental department to ensure compliance.

    WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
    • High School Diploma;
    • Environmental Technology Program College is an asset;
    • 1-2 years experience in the Environmental field in the mining industry;
    • Ability and experience driving a vehicle;
    • Strong work ethic, positive attitude and interpersonal skills;
    • Willingness to learn;
    • Experience working in a multicultural environmental;
    • Knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & Powerpoint;
    • Ability to effectively communicate in English (oral & written);
    • Position is reserved for Inuit Beneficiary candidates.
      Note that the official working language at Meliadine is English.

      Your Work Schedule:

      · Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest;

      · Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site from the Kivalliq Communities, Val d'Or & Mirabel.
