JOB DESCRIPTION

Duties:

As per IBEW Collective Agreement.

  • The Mobile Truck and Transport Vehicle Tradesperson is a Truck and Transport Vehicle
Tradesperson who normally works alone in regions where travel is regularly required and shall
generally perform the duties of their trade in a safe and efficient manner.

  • These duties shall include the repair, maintenance, modification and commissioning of vehicles
and equipment.

  • In addition, a Mobile Truck and Transport Vehicle Tradesperson duties and responsibilities shall
include work order creation, scheduling, ordering parts/materials and coordinating maintenance
and repair of vehicles within their region, including working with user groups and vendors.


Qualifications:

***- As per IBEW collective agreement.

  • A British Columbia Trades Qualification (BCTQ) in Commercial Transport (or Truck & Transport)
is required for this position.- A British Columbia Certificate of Qualification (BCCQ) in commercial truck or heavy duty

mechanics.- BC Hydro Utility Certification and qualified to work on aerial devices would be an asset.

  • A valid B.C. driver's license Class 3 with air brake endorsement.
  • Maintenance / repair and operational experience with digger derricks, cranes, material handling
aerial devices and personnel lifts is essential.

  • A condition of employment for this job is that you maintain the following requirements in good

standing:

  • Air Brake Endorsement = Yes
  • Driver's License Type = Class
  • Selections will be made on the basis of merit, efficiency and seniority per Article 18(g) and the

Letter of Understanding Re:

Fleet Services - Mobile Employees signed July 24, 201- These are mobile positions and work hours will vary in accordance with the IBEW agreement.


  • Compliance with BC Hydro Safety Rules and Regulations.
  • The ability to obtain commercial vehicle certification within 3 months of start date.
  • These positions require effective interpersonal skills for interacting with coworkers, customers,
vendors, and support a positive team approach.

  • These positions require effective organizational, planning skills and recognized leadership skills.
  • These positions involve frequent travel to other locations in British Columbia with extended
periods away from home.

  • Each position will primarily be responsible for the area it is headquartered in, but could also be
required in other areas if coverage is required.

  • May be required to work variable shift hours in accordance with Article 62.3A of the IBEW
Collective agreement.

  • Competency with use of PC operating systems and programs in use at BC Hydro is required.
  • A written exam and a hands on test covering technical, safety, and administrative skills may form
part of the selection process.

  • BC Hydro conducts preplacement medical checks of applicants entering certain positions to
help safeguard BC Hydro's workplace. As part of the selection process, you may be required to
demonstrate successful completion of a pre-placement medical check.

  • Please be advised that this role has been assessed as safety sensitive and prequalification
alcohol and drug testing will be required as a pre-condition to employment.
