Calling all Brewing Talent We are currently looking for a Big Rocker to join our team in the GTA. This position will appeal to if you go hoppy over brewing and want to join one of Canada's leading craft breweriesJOB FUNCTIONS
- The brewer will be working in all areas of the brewery, this includes brewing, cellaring, filtering, and any other area as required.
- Understand and follow the brewing, filtration, cellaring and packaging schedules.
- Follow all SOP's while operating any equipment and/or tasks in the brewery.
- Produce wort within specifications, cool into fermenters, yeast handling.
- CIP tanks, centrifuge, filter, can line and associated equipment.
- Data entry, spreadsheet calculations and other analytical tasks as required.
- Maintain CIP checklists; remove recycling and garbage as required.
- Handling of brewing materials as needed.
- Support events and activities designed to promote Big Rock products.
- Facilitate Beer training for Big Rock and restaurant staff.
- Follow the proper safety precautions regarding use and handling of chemicals.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate in a team environment through strong communication, interpersonal, and teambuilding skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to drive impact and effect positive change with a flexible, openminded, positive approach.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with corporate workplace safety, quality & food safety, and environmental programs.
- Responsible for brewing operations security, processes, and documentation.
- Monitor's brewery equipment conditions for operational efficiency, preventative maintenance, and arrange breakdown repairs, as necessary.
- Follow the daily/weekly/monthly cleaning schedules and adhering to Best Brewing Practices.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Minimum 3 years handson brewing experience (ideally in a craft brewery environment).
- General mechanical aptitude, good troubleshooting, and quick learning skills.
- Knowledge of CIP practices and cleaning chemicals, and WHMIS.
- Good math and computer skills with working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
- A positive work attitude, with the ability to multitask; reliable.
- Must be physically fit to be able to spend long hours standing and perform occasional medium to heavy lifting (e.g. specialty malt or hops up to 30 kgs).
- Ability to perform duties to a high level of standard under mínimal direct supervision.
- Required to work rotational shifts, including nights weekends and potentially statutory holidays (time worked will be compensated according to employment standards).
