Systems Analyst (IT & Cybersecurity Operations)

Company: Northumberland Ferries / Bay Ferries

Location: Charlottetown, PE or Halifax, NS

Job Type: Full-time

Reports To: Director, Technology and Systems

Join Our Mission

Keep our fleet moving and our data secure. As a Systems Analyst, you won't just be sitting behind a desk in a typical office. You will be the technical backbone supporting shore-based terminals, vessel-connected systems, and critical ship-to-shore connectivity. If you thrive in a role that blends hands-on infrastructure support with high-level cybersecurity operations, we want to hear from you.

The Role

You will be responsible for the day-to-day reliability and security of our enterprise IT systems. This is a "boots on the ground" technical role focusing on network administration, cybersecurity incident response, and system hardening. You will play a pivotal role in protecting our infrastructure from threats while ensuring our operational technology (OT) interfaces remain seamless.

Key Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure & Networking: Administer our Ubiquiti network environment (UniFi controllers, switches, APs) and manage ship-to-shore connectivity.
  • Surveillance Management: Oversee company-wide CCTV and video surveillance infrastructure, ensuring data retention and system reliability.
  • Cybersecurity Operations: Act as the Technical Support Lead during incidents; manage DNS filtering, network segmentation, and endpoint protection.
  • Incident Response: Lead forensic investigations, containment, and recovery activities while issuing security bulletins to stakeholders.
  • Audit & Compliance: Prepare technical evidence for cybersecurity audits and regulatory inspections, ensuring we meet all governance standards.
  • Microsoft 365 Admin: Manage 365 services, SharePoint security configurations, and data access controls.

What You Bring

  • Technical Expertise: Proven experience supporting enterprise-level networks, servers, and endpoints.
  • Security Mindset: Hands-on experience in cybersecurity operations, system hardening, and incident response protocols.
  • Platform Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration and Ubiquiti/UniFi networking hardware.
  • Communication: The ability to translate complex technical risks into clear, actionable advice for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Adaptability: Comfort working across diverse environments, from office settings to terminal interfaces and vessels.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Microsoft 365 Administration & Security (Essential)
  • Network Segmentation & DNS Threat Protection
  • Vendor Coordination & Technical Troubleshooting
  • IT Governance & Policy Development
  • Audit & Compliance Support

Why Work With Us?

  • Unique Environment: Support a vital transportation link involving complex maritime technology.
  • Professional Growth: Take a lead role in cybersecurity initiatives and infrastructure planning.
  • Impact: Your work directly affects the safety and efficiency of our fleet and passengers.
