About School of Community and Health Studies - Collaborative Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) program
The School of Community and Health Studies (SCHS) specializes in education that helps people and communities.

Nestled in the Rouge Valley Conservation area, our Morningside Campus serves as the headquarters for our innovative health and community-focused programs.

These programs are taught in state-of-the-art laboratories, where students receive hands-on experience in simulated environments, and learn to inspire and change lives.

Centennial College's collaborative nursing degree program is offered in partnership with Toronto Metropolitan University and George Brown College and provides diverse clinical placements, simulation, group study, and interactive teaching strategies leading to a BScN degree.

The department also offers bridging to university nursing and post-diploma programs.

Position Summary


Reporting to the Associate Dean of Nursing, the Professor will deliver high-quality academic, clinical, and research-related course curriculum to a diverse student population, successfully preparing them to make a difference in the future of healthcare.

The Collaborative BScN nursing degree program is a collaborative partnership with two reputable post-secondary institutions - Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) and George Brown College.


Responsibilities

  • Create and promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment that engages students from diverse backgrounds; use a variety of teaching methods informed by current best practices in teaching and learning scholarship and educational research
  • Critically examine learning materials and classroom instructional practice for discriminatory bias or barriers
  • Ensure teaching and curriculum are reflective of the latest innovations and trends in industry or workrelated environments
  • Participate in ongoing curriculum renewal and development, program design, and quality assurance reviews
  • Evaluate student achievement of learning outcomes with a variety of approaches and techniques and provide regular, timely feedback; maintain records of student grades/assessments
  • Build sustainable and collaborative relations with internal academic and external industry partners
  • Gather and reflect upon student feedback and perspectives (e.g., through Student Course Feedback Surveys) to inform and revise teaching strategies and approaches, curriculum and learning environments
  • Participate in reflective practice; maintain professional development in teaching and learning by participating in relevant activities/events, (e.g., contributing to the scholarship of teaching and learning, engage in industry associations or groups)
  • Participate in faculty meetings and activities.
  • Provide academic support as required

Qualifications/Experience

Education:


  • Completion of PhD in Nursing, Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), Doctor of Education (EdD), or a doctorate in a related discipline is required. If education is in a related field of study, please state how it is related.
  • Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) required.

Experience/Requirements

  • Minimum two (2) years of teaching experience in a classroom, lab, or online environment through a variety of curriculum delivery modalities at the postsecondary level required.
  • Minimum two (2) years experience working as a Registered Nurse.
  • Relevant nursing clinical practice and/or teaching experience in acute medical/surgical, pathotherapeutics, and simula
