    What you will be doing

    When you become a Trust Associate, you will be joining an admired and respected bank that for more than a century, has been helping businesses reach their full potential in a team of professionals who provide Trust Services to high net worth clients. Through a structured and comprehensive training program that includes online tutorials/presentations and on-the-job training, you will have the opportunity to learn how to manage the administration and client relationships for a range of CIBC Trust accounts of straightforward to moderate complexity.

    As a Trust Associate, your primary accountability is the timely, accurate, and professional administration of estate, trust and power of attorney accounts, while adhering to all CIBC Trust Policies & Procedures. This includes tracking, monitoring and compliance with the governing documents and taking responsibility for the resolution of all operational, technical and discretionary issues encountered in the management of the accounts. You will collaborate with internal experts (i.e. Investment Management, Tax Department & Property Management) as applicable on the ongoing administration and/or to address issues.

    You'll begin your journey with Orientation Activities to help you get acclimated to the team and role and will equip you with the skills and knowledge to provide the best possible experience to CIBC clients – we know there's a learning curve and we're here to help. It's hands-on, so you'll get the real-life experience you need to rise to the challenge. You will complete a number of training sessions related directly to the role including account opening, cash management, AML requirements, fee collection, distributions, account closures etc. As an new Trust Associate you will have ongoing coaching and mentoring by your leader. You'll have an opportunity to develop a number of soft skills including empathy, how to have difficult conversations and time management. After 6 to 7 months into the program, you will be given accounts to administer where you will be able to showcase newly acquired skills and knowledge.

  • Client Engagement - Enhance relationships by collaborating with your team and ensuring client needs are met. Respond to requests by answering questions with sensitivity and providing an exceptional experience.
  • Collaboration - Develop and maintain a strong partnership with the clients/beneficiaries in order to provide excellent client service. Effective and open communication is critical to ensure parties are informed of key activities, milestones and deliverables. Partner effectively with internal experts from the Investment Management and Tax Department, to provide oversight and guidance on client investment and tax issues. Engage external professionals as required. Consult with Investment Management to monitor account investments to ensure consistency with account objectives, constating documents and legislation.
  • Trust & Estate Acumen – Ensure account onboarding and management align with the unique needs of clients and the characteristics of Estates and Trust. Establish effective tracking, monitoring and compliance with the governing document and take responsibility for the resolution of all operational, technical and discretionary issues encountered in the management of the accounts. Assist in developing standards in administration and vetting new and/or changes to policies and procedures. Optimize account administration by identifying and implementing process improvements.
  • Coaching and Mentoring – Contribute to the oversight and supervision of the workflow of a Trust Administrator, by providing ongoing technical assistance to support the achievement of the business unit's priorities and CIBC's overall goals. Create a positive work environment and be an effective role model by championing CIBC's mission, vision and values. Ensure compliance with policies, standards, guidelines and controls by applying the policies and controls fairly and consistently.
