This includes leading the QA team, maintaining and updating HACCP and SQF Programs and ensuring food safety and quality procedures are followed.
Responsibilities:
- Leading Food Safety Team, maintaining and updating SQF Programs, training employees on Food Safety Regulations and company's procedures has the authority to initiate a recall and corrective action in case of food safety deviation. Responsible for food safety and legality issues.
- Lead and develop a QA team, coach and make talent management, hiring and performance decisions.
- Responsible for investigating all food safety and qualityrelated issues at the plant and performing food safety assessments.
- Maintain Food Safety Manual, which includes making all updates due to internal changes in the SOPs, HACCP Plan, HACCP Prerequisites, records, etc., changes in regulatory rules and regulations, SQF requirements or corrective actions from regulatory and thirdparty audits. Ensure that the Food Safety Manual is always current.
- Responsible for investigating all food safety and qualityrelated issues at the plant and performing food safety assessments.
- Communicate to Management Team any product safety issues. Responsible for investigating all plant food safety and qualityrelated topics and performing food safety assessments.
- Lead and coordinate the preparation of all documentation and was the facilitator for regulatory and thirdparty audits. Act as an active participant in the audits. Responsible for sending Corrective Action Plan to the auditor in a timely manner, ensuring effective implementation of corrective actions onsite. Responsible for communicating with CB, scheduling audits, and appealing the results of SQF Audit (if required).
- Coordinate and play the role of a Lead Auditor during Internal GMP Audits. Responsible for issuing the Report and communicating issues to the management. Lead and coordinate SQF system reassessment (entire system at least once a year). Play role of a Lead Auditor during reassessment/Internal Audit.
- Coordinate and lead HACCP/ SQF Team Meetings, SQF monthly management meetings, Mock Recalls, Crisis Management, and Management Review meetings.
- Responsible for ensuring all verification and validation activities are completed and Food Safety related training of the staff.
- Communicate existing gaps in the system to the management and make recommendations for improvements. Collaborate with operations on initiating corrective action and preventative measures when necessary.
- Deal with customer and supplier product issues.
- Monitor suppliers through auditing, collecting all necessary documents and random testing of received ingredients.
- Oversee and perform microbial environmental testing as per the program schedule.
- Prepare Hold/ Release Records and Product Safety Deviation Records if necessary.
- Participate in industry meetings, training and events, and checks OMAFRA, CFIA, and SQFI websites for any updates on the program.
- Support the packaging design process by reviewing claims and label artwork to ensure compliance before packaging goes to print. Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory standards/requirements.
- Ensures compliance with strict GMP standards
