The Vancouver office of Footprint is seeking an experienced Project Manager to support our energy modelling team. You are leader in energy conservation and sustainable design. You take initiative, are a hard worker, and you pride yourself on your friendly yet direct communication skills.

Does this sound like you? If so, here are some of the more detailed responsibilities you can expect in this position:

  • Understand the NECB, ASHRAE 90.1, BC Step Code and VBBL.
  • Communicate effectively with the internal project team, external project team, owner, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction.
  • Perform detailed building energy modelling using applicable software (eQuest, IES, Energy Plus, etc.).
  • Perform take off calculations for all building elements and parameters required for energy modelling.
  • As required, assign tasks to other staff and actively support the mentoring of junior staff.
  • Review and interpret architectural, mechanical and electrical design drawings.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to project designers on solutions affecting building energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Work closely with architects, mechanical and electrical engineers to assess the commercial viability of various energy strategies and systems.
  • Perform engineering calculations to support modelling results.
  • Evaluate and analyze various building energy measures by performing iterative modelling.
  • Prepare of modelling documentation and submittals as required by the project.
  • Promote and enforce company standards relating to project administration, documentation and quality management.
  • Collaborate to improve processes and procedures to improve efficiency and quality.
  • Act as contract administrator for designated projects, ensuring timely completion of all contract administration activities for project.
  • Ensure tasks are completed to Footprint standards within the assigned hours/fee.
  • Understand our scope of services and Issues Requests for Additional Fees when requests for work exceed scope requirements.
  • Assist with proposal responses (RFP).
  • Support the accounts receivable process.

A few more qualifications which will help you with these responsibilities:

  • Minimum five years of direct modeling experience.
  • An architectural, building science or engineering degree.
  • A LEED Accredited Professional is preferred.
  • Strong leadership qualities and an ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work in a complex environment, dealing with multiple projects and clients.
  • Possess sound communications skills as demonstrated through client and staff relations.
  • Ability to develop lasting relationships with clients that foster strong client ties.
