    Job Summary

    Responsible for the supporting project development and project tasks of small to medium sized Oil and Gas projects, working independently and/or participates in a support role. Assists in the coordination of engineering discipline functions and is responsible for many technical aspects of their assigned projects.

    Responsibilities

    • To act as Engineer and provide support function to Project Manager on assigned projects or feasibility studies.
    • May be responsible for various aspects of developing studies for small to medium sized projects with various clients.
    • Supports the Project Manager with project scoping according to client requests. May have direct contact with the client on assigned projects.
    • Responsible for completing task assignments from the project team & project manager, co-ordinating tasks with various disciplines within and outside the company and coordinating the activities of the assigned engineering, drafting and design staff. This may be supervised by the Project Manager.
    • Coordinate with the various internal disciplines for initiation of performing complex engineering tasks including detailed calculations as required by the project. May be responsible for the execution of detailed calculations.
    • Provide assistance to the Project Manager for development of the Project Charter, Project Design Basis Memorandum and execution plan, and schedules for small to medium sized projects.
    • Preparing basic design documents required by design engineering disciplines and equipment engineers for the performance of detailed engineering.
    • Preparing and maintaining the engineering control documents developed from the master project schedule.
    • Preparing engineering specifications for the project (i.e., equipment) with assistance from other project and design engineers.
    • Review, check and approve detailed engineering drawings & deliverables.
    • Engineering quality control to meet Company and Client quality standards.
    • Timely project reporting both internal and external (scheduling, cost control, progress reports etc.). Reports on projects will be submitted to the internal Project Manager for review and submission to client.
    • Manage outside supply of materials and services (i.e., compressor QC through inspectors).
    • General project engineering to meet budgeted project cost, schedule, safety, and quality targets.
    • Assist in the maintenance of company policies and engineering standards.
    • Assist in manpower planning by reviewing work commitments, work distribution and continuity through regular project review meetings.
    • Takes courses of action necessary to expedite the successful accomplishment of assigned projects.

    Core Competencies

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively with all clients, both internal (at all levels of the organization) and external.
    • Competent understanding of Company/Client procedures and requirements for project cost control.
    • Proven ability to multi-task and efficiently respond to changing priorities.
    • Possesses an understanding of natural gas/heavy oil processing.
    • Ability to read and edit Process Flow Diagrams (PFD's), Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID's), Vendor equipment drawings considered an asset.
    • Computer proficiency in MS Office, Bluebeam Revu.
    • Superior organizational and time management skills; ability to meet deadlines.
    • Decision-making and problem-solving ability.
    • Previous experience at an Engineering Procurement Construction Management (EPCM) company considered an asset.
    • Experience with software such as AspenTech, ProMax, Symmetry, Fisher Spec Manager considered an asset.
    • Experience Capital Cost Estimating and Engineering Man hour estimating considered an asset.
    • Assist with equipment procurement activities.
    • Experience with Bluebeam considered an asset.
    • Familiarity with ASME B31.3, B16.5, CSA Z662, AER D56, API 520/521 considered an asset.
    • Experience with environmental engineering projects such as wind power, solar power, biogas, water treatment or waste management projects nice to have.

    Education Qualifications

    • University or Technical institution graduate in Engineering or applied science or its equivalent.
    • Registered as an E.I.T. in good standing with APEGA and working towards P.Eng. designation or registered with ASET as a T.T./C.E.T.

    Salary

    $70,000 - $75,000
