- Valid Class 5 drivers license
- Physically capable of performing manual tasks (e.g. lifting, climbing, shovelling for extended periods of time, using repetitive tools)
- Able to work around dust and chemicals in extreme weather conditions and with various noise levels
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Experience in year round grounds maintenance, including snow removal and maintenance of lawns, trees, hedges, shrubs, flower garden at large commercial facilities.
- Experience in operating and servicing grounds equipment including large grass mowers, tillers and snow removal equipment
- Knowledge of Workplace Safety & Health Act, related regulations, safe work practices and WHMIS
- Ability to work independently
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of government as well as the general public
- Experience working in a team
Desired:
- Experience supervising employees.
- Experience using SAP or similar workorder software.
Duties:
- Under the general supervision of the Grounds Manager, the incumbent performs ground maintenance at Headingley Correctional Centre and other owned properties in District Two. The position will receive direction and instruction from supervisor with respect to grounds maintenance tasks._
