Position Summary


The Quality & Safety Associate is the ambassador for the UHN physician quality and safety portfolio and will work collaboratively and report to the UHN Medical Director, Quality & Safety.

The aim of the portfolio is to engage the physician community in the quality and safety activities of the organization, to lead a community of practice of medical leaders in quality and safety (through the UHN Physician Council on Quality & Safety), and to support physicians working to improve the care for patients at UHN.


Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

Duties

  • Advance quality and safety in the organization, primarily through consultation and collaboration with UHN physicians, through the development of infrastructure, education, scholarly and philanthropic approaches
  • Champion a quality and safety approach across the organization, and accelerate patient safety and quality improvement through representation on various corporate and program committees
  • Contribute to the development of a physician community of practice on quality and safety, in part through collaborative work with and support of the UHN Physician Council on Quality & Safety
  • Develop and support the infrastructure of quality and safety ay UHN, including developing and maintaining tools to facilitate and enhance research and quality improvement task performance, and the creation of resources, guidelines, standards and organizational policies
  • Assess the need for, and respond to, educational resources and opportunities for physicians involved in quality and safety ay UHN
  • Assist in the selection and analysis of qualityrelated performance indicators to monitor organizational, program, and/or unit level performance to ensure alignment with strategic direction
  • Manage projects and initiatives designed to promote harm prevention, patient safety and quality improvement on a corporatewide, programwide and local, patient care unit scale
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and planning for quality and patient safety initiatives through advocating for clinical standardization through quality improvement initiatives and document preparation
  • Performing administrative duties as requested

Qualifications

  • At minimum, 6 years of practical and related experience or onthejob training required.
  • At minimum, completion of a Master's Degree or recognized equivalent required.
  • Strong Facilitation Skills.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication Skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Change management skills and experience.
  • Organizational/Time Management.
  • Quantitative/Analytical Skills.
  • Presentation Skills.
