The GO Expansion scope :

new electric locomotives, fleet upgrades, train control systems, network electrification, signalling, telecommunications and digital systems, maintenance, and much more.

Alstom is hiring a Project Configuration & Change Manager (PrCCM) to support the modernization team.


Purpose of the Job

  • The PrCCM is responsible to keep the project /product configuration under control during the whole lifecycle of the Project/Product.

The PrCCM manages:

  • The initial configuration of the modernized fleet (about 1000 cars and 100 locomotives, several generations)
  • The related configuration of new design
  • The change process in the project/product and ensure Configuration is formalised and adequate at any time to deliver the configuration and change documentation to the Customer.

Responsibilities

The PrCCM is responsible to:

  • Issue configuration and change management plan
  • Collect, organize and communicate the configuration of the existing fleets, taking care of the key inputs required by the metiers leaders (eg: drawings for mechanical department, schematics for systems etc.)
  • Animate CCB process (Configuration Control Board), especially plan and organize the CCB meetings:
  • Collect the Change Requests (CR)
  • Verify that the changes are well documented
  • Send the CR to the PrEM for analysis and CP (change proposal) preparation
  • Collect the Change Proposals and send it in advance to the participants of the CCB to check the impacts
  • Collect (if needed) QCD impacts
  • Establish the CCB reports
  • Coordinate and federate all the project/products actors regarding configuration and changes : Engineering, Industrial, Sourcing, Supply chain, ILS, C&W, Validation.
The PrCCM Engineer organizes and manages the project/product evolutions through changes activities:


  • Respond to project/product priorities or urgencies
  • Ensure rigorous traceability and reporting
  • Organize and update configuration and change database for the project/product
  • Issue and follow up the action plan, assigning the Change Orders to the doers
  • Manage with project/product baselines
  • Configuration items identification; baselines management (coherency checking)
  • Ensure interfaces with subsystems confirm baseline definition
  • Support Project Managers in the baseline integration
  • Capture multiple car type configurations
  • Be able to pull data from various tools, parts catalogues, etc.
  • Ability to propose some improvement of processes/tools.
  • Control configuration (compare realised/applicable)
  • Perform Configuration verifications
  • Issue configuration & change KPIs

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Management, Business Administration, Engineering or any other relevant field for the role.
  • Professional Engineer designation as per Canadian regulations or in progress.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Around 5 years' experience as project configuration or strong experience as doc controller with organizational & communication skills. Preferably within railways environment, design and/or maintenance.
  • Knowledge of configuration management tools.

Location / Travel
This position is based in Toronto, ON (project office, maintenance depots where existing vehicles are accessible).

Occasional business travels within Canada / USA.
