Mechanical Workshop Supervisor

SUMMARY:


Reporting to the Service Director, the incumbent will be responsible for the management of the Elevex workshop team (approximately 10 employees) while ensuring the achievement of the highest standards in term of health and safety, customer service and operational efficiency.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Health and Safety:_

  • Contribute to the prevention effort and the enhancement of Elevex's health and safety culture;
  • Participate in investigations and analyzes of accident or incidents;
  • Ensure the cleanliness and good state of the service workshop.

Supervision of operations:


  • Execute the action plans of his department in relation with the business and performance objectives of the organization, in collaboration with the department manager;
  • Responsible for managing priorities and the volume of work in order to optimize the use of resources and skills of workshop staff;
  • Ensure that the work performed by the service team is of highest quality and complies with current safety standards;
  • Maintain the fleet of rental lift trucks in good condition with the aim of minimizing costs for the company;
  • Contribute in the maintenance of performance indicators and monitor them in order to assess and improve the productivity, operational and financial efficiency of the workshop, in collaboration with the Service Director;
  • Promote the best practices, methodologies and standards of quality and reliability among the personnel under his responsibility and at optimal costs;
  • Contribute in the development of proposals and quotations for forklifts sales files (provide estimated prices to the sales team), preparation for the resale of used forklifts as well as repair work on customer forklifts;
  • Assume the ad hoc management of the building's maintenance, in collaboration with the service director and senior management.

Customer Service:_

  • Collaborate with other departments of the company to improve the services and products offered and in the resolution of complaints or problems affecting customers;
  • Improve the overall satisfaction of external and internal customers of the service workshop.

Human Resource Management:_

  • Participate in the hiring, integration, training and evaluation of personnel for a team of approximately 10 employees, mainly made up of workshop technicians, but also including 1 team leader, 2 workshop clerks and a forklift shipping/receiving clerk;
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and intervene in the vent of noncompliance;
  • Contribute to the employee development and ensure that team members have the skills required to optimally perform the services offered;
  • Lead team members in achieving their goals, guide and advise them on their working methods;
  • Ensure the adequate diffusion of information among its staff and respond to the concerns of the staff under its responsibility.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:


  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar position, including managing a team;
  • Demonstrated experience in the deployment of action plans to achieve business objectives;
  • Experience with an ERP;
  • Excellent fluency of French and English languages, both oral and written;
  • Intermediate level of knowledge with the MS Office Suite and experience with an ERP (an asset);
  • College diploma in operations management, mechanical or electronic engineering (an asset);
  • Experience or interest in mechanics in general; experience as a forklift or related equipment technician (an asset).
