About the Opportunity:


Reporting to the Manager Emergency Preparedness and working as a part of the zone and Nova Scotia Health teams; the Emergency Preparedness Advisor is responsible for coordinating activities within the designated zone related to emergency planning and response.

The advisor works under the authority of the manager and is responsible for participating in the development, implementation, maintenance and evaluation of all components of a comprehensive and provincially integrated emergency preparedness plan.

The advisor is committed to achieving the best outcomes in health care program and service delivery, safe care and continuous improvement to meet or exceed all accreditation requirements and legislative requirements.


About You:

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Post -secondary degree or relevant combination of continuing education, training and progressive leadership experience
  • Continuing education in emergency planning, preparedness, and response programs
  • Three years recent and related experience in the following areas:
  • Development and implementation of Emergency Preparedness plans
  • Health Care experience preferred
  • Project management and work plan development
  • Adult Education program development and facilitation
  • Writing, including policy and procedures, educational resources, reports, and correspondence
  • Leadership, including coaching and mentoring
  • Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) or Associate Emergency Manager (AEM); commitment to complete the designation within a specified time from hire date
  • Healthcare experience preferred
  • Thorough knowledge and demonstrated understanding of processes and procedures for interacting with professional leadership team during emergencies to lead with confidence, patience and integrity
  • Ability to work positively in stressful situations
  • Good project management skills. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the testing of emergency response, recovery support, and business resumption procedures
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills with an ability to deal with conflicting demands and interruptions
  • Knowledge in the use of Windows, Microsoft Office products, internet and electronic mail
  • Experience related to Business Continuity Planning will be considered an asset
  • Experience engaging, mentoring and empowering teams and stakeholders in a collaborative, participatory manner
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
  • Travel to other sites is required, must have access to a reliable vehicle

Hours:


  • Long assignment, fulltime position, 75 hrs biweekly
  • Beginning as soon as possible with an expected end date of Sept 30, 2024 (Approximately 12 months)
    Compensation and Incentives:
$ $40.01 Hourly
