Posting Closing Date: 5/22/23We are seeking an Enterprise Data Centre Specialist to join our team and provide technical expertise and leadership to our organization. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to work closely with stakeholders to identify business needs and develop technical solutions that support our mission-critical enterprise client/server Data Centre environment.


As an Enterprise Data Centre Specialist, your team plays a vital role in maintaining and securing our datacenter compute infrastructure that provides services for our administrators, teachers, students, and parents.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with stakeholders to identify, recommend and ultimately design and implement technical solutions in support of Division initiatives.
  • Provide technical leadership in areas of expertise while participating on project teams to design and implement solutions that deliver solutions to address identified needs.
  • Develop and implement disaster recovery plans for all mission critical systems and data, documenting instructions and procedures to ensure rapid reliable recovery in the event of a system failure.
  • Provide technical leadership and assist in training less experienced staff, prepare written instructions to aid staff in the understanding.
  • Seek opportunities to improve processes, products, and services by identifying opportunities where information technology may assist in the resolution.
  • Resolve complex high priority escalated problems by interfacing with staff, clients and/or vendors to diagnose and correct computer hardware/software related problems.
  • Manage the enterprise data centre environment for the purpose of maintaining capacity planning, patch management and remote administration.
  • Provide support to administrative and educational environments by writing scripts to automate task and develop, plan for, and implement solutions where none currently exist.
  • Upgrade, tune and troubleshoot problems related to all systems located in the Division's data centre.
  • Monitor the Division's enterprise information systems to identify potential problems or bottlenecks.
  • Design and implement solutions to eliminate bottlenecks while developing long range capacity plans.
  • Manage access and security focusing on protecting private or confidential data from unauthorized access and protecting the privacy of individuals.
  • Provide coverage for the Senior Enterprise Data Centre Specialist during absences.
  • Maintain technical knowledge through a range of professional development activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Postsecondary degree or diploma in computer systems or equivalent experience, seven years of directly related experience working with a range of disciplines and programs
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting all issues of the Data Centre including Active Directory problems including DNS, TCPIP routing and Authentication.
  • Indepth knowledge of Hyper-V design and configuration
  • Awareness of security threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Indepth working knowledge of Microsoft's active directory (AD)
  • Knowledge of enterprise services such as, SQL Server, IIS, DNS, ILM, ISA and VB Scripting/Powershell
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting principles and techniques
  • Knowledge of safe workplaces and awareness of Occupational Health and Safety regulations and legislation
  • Knowledge of project management principles with directly related experience managing projects.
  • Understanding of Division and department business, operations, programs, goals and objectives
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to work with multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong technical writing skills
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills with the ability to create original concepts/theories and
