Duties
:

Reporting to the Director, Counselling and Accessibility Services, the incumbent is responsible for providing personal counselling and psychotherapy services to College students with a focus on mental health and addiction issues, support for survivors of gender based and sexual violence, and developing psychoeducational programming and materials from an anti-oppressive, trauma-informed perspective.

Working from a client-centred and trauma-informed framework, the Personal Counsellor will also support students with appropriate referrals to College and community partners.
Qualifications**- Master's degree in Social Work, Counselling Psychology or a related discipline, including a supervised clinical internship

Professional registration required to practice psychotherapy in the province of Ontario with the College of Registered Psychotherapists (CRPO), or the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW)
Minimum 5 years' recent and relevant experience
An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered; preference will be given to applicants meeting the education requirements
Previous experience working in the field of sexual and genderbased violence; experience providing direct support to survivors of genderbased violence is an asset
Specific experience and professional training in working with clients who have experienced trauma
Experience working with racialized, marginalized, and/or underserved communities
Demonstrated ability to support students in crisis, including assessment of risk, and making appropriate referrals is required
Experience with providing case management is also an asset
Knowledge of harm reduction models, education and prevention strategies, for individuals living with addictions and substance use problems is an asset
Excellent verbal and written communication and strong interpersonal skills required
Strong commitment and demonstrated ability to working collaboratively as part of a team, and in accordance with all legal and ethical requirements

Salary:

Determination of starting salaries is based on relevant teaching/occupational experience and relevant formal qualifications, supported with original transcripts from granting institutions.

The salary scale is $67,221 to $116,532 along with a comprehensive benefit package.
Partial load or full-time academic staff presently employed with the College will be given first consideration in accordance with the Academic Collective Agreement.
