Our new, state-of-the-art teaching and learning facilities, slated to open in early 2024 as part of the ongoing Campaign for Ridley, will continue to reshape the learning experience for future generations of Ridleians and uphold Ridley's place as a global leader in education.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Fitting, altering and repairing student apparel including school uniforms, athletic apparel, cadet uniforms, choir robes, etc.
  • Creating and altering costumes and rented apparel for school and special productions
  • Coordinating dry cleaning services by itemizing items, sending them out to dry cleaning and ensuring all the pieces return and are distributed to appropriate parties
  • Repairing window coverings
  • Basic upholstering
  • Effectively communicate with students, staff and parents

WORK CONDITIONS

  • Occasionally working with soiled items and laundry
  • Extended sitting
  • Lifting laundry
  • Considerable movement around campus
  • Manual dexterity and fine motor skills is required in sewing

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of Grade 12 education, combined with at least two years sewing experience is an asset.
  • Completion of a course in tailoring or dressmaking is preferred
  • Experience with related equipment (industrial sewing machine, serger machine, steam press, steamer, etc)
  • Experience reading patterns
  • Ability to read and write English
  • Basic computer skills

$20.58
