Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient
- centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.


Position Overview:


The CBTm Hub is a program that was funded by the Province of Manitoba to prioritize access to cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) programming for populations across the province.

The project is focused on using CBT skills training as both prevention and treatment of mental health problems. Priorities of the CBTm Hub Team include implementation, training, and evaluation of the program across a range of settings.


Reporting to the Manager of Specialized Services, Clinical Specialists, the Clinical Specialist addresses key clinical issues by providing clinical expertise and leadership in the areas of clinical practice, consultation, supervision, inter-professional collaboration, education and training, quality improvement, and research.


The Clinical Specialist provides leadership in promoting and maintaining excellence in the delivery of relevant, evidence-based clinical interventions within the integrated mental health and addictions (MHA) system.

The Clinical Specialist, in alignment with and a champion of health care transformation, will be responsive to broad system needs, including embracing and leading change that improves flow, access, and treatment options for Manitobans.


The position of Clinical Specialist functions in a manner consistent with, and supports the Mission, Vision, and Values of Shared Health.


Experience:


  • Minimum of four (4) years' clinical practice in community mental health/addictions services.
  • Two (2) years' experience in consultative or supervisory role.
  • Skills and experience in staff training and development within a continuous learning environment.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary staff and promoting interprofessional practice.
  • Experience in program planning, evaluation and development.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate):


  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy with Mindfulness training.
  • Master's degree in a relevant field required.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Certification/Licensure/Registration:


  • Responsible for maintaining and providing proof of active registration with the appropriate registering body.

Qualifications and Skills:


  • Specialist level of knowledge in evidencebased mental health treatment required, specifically cognitive behavioural therapy in a group format.
  • Knowledge of:
  • Advanced knowledge of the addictions and mental health fields is required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and advanced level of practice in clinical assessment and treatment models including but not limited to: therapeutic models, such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness and Strength Based therapies, Addiction Disorders, Crisis Response, Case Management, Interprofessional Practice, prevention and promotion, service coordination and integration, supportive counselling, Trauma Informed Practice, Systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of quality assurance principles.
  • Demonstrated interprofessional collaborative team building abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve in complex situations.
  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to holistic health care and varied community and social perspectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and facilitate processes and partnerships for practice development.
  • Demonstrated ability to research, analyze and summarize complex information to determine action required.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with individuals, and in the context of families, groups and communities.
  • Demonstrated understanding of, and sensitivity to, working with culturally diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to function within a computerized environment required.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate both verbally and written in French is considered to be an asset
  • Valid Manitoba's driver's license and access to a vehicle.
  • Completes and maintains a satisfactory preemployment security check.
