Medical Office Assistant / PhlebotomistOverview
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Medical Office Assistant / Phlebotomist to support both administrative and clinical operations within our Oakville practice.
This role is essential to ensuring efficient workflow, accurate documentation, and a positive patient experience.Key Responsibilities
- Answer phones, respond to patient inquiries, and schedule/confirm appointments.
- Enter and update patient information and vital signs accurately in the Accuro EMR system.
- Prepare and maintain clean, fully stocked examination rooms.
- Welcome patients and assist with exam preparation.
- Measure and record vital signs including height, weight, blood pressure, and blood glucose.
- Perform venipuncture and specimen collection safely and accurately while ensuring patient comfort.
- Properly label, document, and handle specimens in accordance with laboratory and infection control standards.
- Support physicians and healthcare staff with administrative and clinical tasks as required.
- Certification in Phlebotomy from a Canadian Accredited Phlebotomy Institute (required).
- Experience in a medical or clinical office setting (preferred).
- Proficiency with EMR systems and general computer applications.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask.
- Knowledge of privacy legislation, infection control, and workplace safety standards.
- Professional, patient-centered communication skills.
- Accuracy and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
- Compassionate, respectful patient care.
- Commitment to confidentiality and ethical practice.
