POSITION OVERVIEW


The Product Development Coordinator acts as the primary contact with our overseas suppliers, facilitating the early lifecycle stages of a product from concept to creation and up to the production stage.

The person in this role acts as liaison between varying departments and manufacturers, handles a multitude of projects, manages tight deadlines, and builds systems for maintaining and sharing product-related data.

The Product Development Coordinator continuously communicates in clear and concise written English and must communicate effectively to overseas suppliers. This is a hands-on role and requires impeccable attention to detail, organizational and time management skills.


KEY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Main point of contact for all new product development needs and existing item particulars (growth and maintenance) for all Heirloom, Custom/Key Accounts, and new developments for Jubliee.
  • Liaise between Creative and Graphics teams, Sales, and Overseas suppliers.
  • Obtain new construction documents, die lines, vendor restrictions, reference samples or prototypes, prior to initiating new projects assigned by PD Manager, per season.
  • Create, maintain, and update ongoing project discussions and items on Basecamp and WFX.
  • Handle all aspects of sampling, design revisions and product refinement within budget.
  • Lead weekly project status meetings for assigned brands with PD Manager.
  • Ensures every phase of each project proceeds as scheduled to meet deadlines.
  • Perform and log internal test reports for all new products per season (for assigned brands).
  • Ensure receipt of appropriate certifications, test reports and other applicable documents from suppliers for all new products.
  • Work closely with Graphics to create new, revise or improve existing packaging with the supplier.
  • Order, track, receive and distribute samples to respective team members.
  • Organize and hold preseason team meetings to present new fabrics/swatches and materials based on trend research sourced from suppliers for relevant product categories, for assigned brands.
  • Build and maintain organization of reference sample and swatch library.
  • Assisting crossfunctional teams with a variety of product information.
  • Excellent written and verbal English skills.
  • 1+ years related work experience or combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Experience in wholesale or large chain retail environment an asset
  • Strong MS office skills (Outlook, Excel, Word databases or related platforms) and data management skills
  • Experience with Salsify, WFX PLM, Sage X3, or other ERP/PLM software systems is an asset.
  • Ability to lift and unpack cartons of samples (up to 30 lbs)
  • Experience communicating with internal staff, the ability to communicate at a high level with overseas factories and understanding the different communication styles required to be successful in both.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize, operate proactively and work independently.
  • Ability to objectively evaluate opinions and generate solutions.
  • Previous experience in or a desire to learn about the housewares industry including têxtiles and ceramics.
  • Keen interest in Fashion, Home decor, Textiles, Design, Cooking and Entertaining
