Opportunity

MacEwan University is seeking an International Engagement Coordinator for a 13-month replacement term position with MacEwan International.

The International Engagement Coordinator supports MacEwan University students in their international and intercultural learning goals through established education abroad or internationalization at home programs by providing student-centered advice on opportunities, impacts, responsibilities, processes, and resources.

Reporting to the International Mobility and Partnerships Lead, you will support the implementation and maintenance of the university's international partnerships and liaise with various stakeholders to ensure student learning and faculty collaboration can be successfully achieved.

Your key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Advising students and other stakeholders on international engagement opportunities and processes;
  • Providing information and advice to students interested in international learning according to their academic and professional goals and personal needs, ensuring issues of intercultural perspectives, access, financial impact, academic success, and other factors are considered;
  • Supporting students with their experiences abroad through orientations and workshops in various formats, including intercultural competence and risk mitigation training;
  • Enrolling students and monitoring success;
  • Researching and evaluating new partnership opportunities under the direction of the Team Lead. Provide written reports on agreement feasibility and alignment; and
  • Collecting and maintaining data related to international engagement activities at MacEwan University using relevant databases. Advise and provide reports to leadership as required.

This opportunity is a 13-month full-time replacement term.

SKILLS

You will have:

  • Exceptional intercultural communication skills, including demonstrated ability to communicate with nonEnglish speakers from diverse backgrounds through oral and written mediums;
  • Strong interpersonal, relationshipbuilding, and conflictresolution skills;
  • Sound understanding of Canadian and international education systems, their underlying values, policies, and processes;
  • Demonstrated ability in service program implementation and delivery;
  • Strong ability to organize, analyze, and communicate data and statistics; and
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A baccalaureate degree; a degree in social sciences, humanities, or education is preferred. Specialization or focus on intercultural learning or international affairs is an asset.
  • A minimum of two years of direct experience in an educational or student support environment, working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Personal crosscultural experience (i.e., extended term studying or working in a country other than home country).
  • Language(s) other than English is an asset.
  • Experience in intercultural training or developing training programs is an asset.
  • Comfort in using complex specialist software, such as mobility or relationship management solutions.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
