Purpose:


Technical product managers spend much of their time on how things get implemented and what technology is required to meet business requirements.

Our team is looking for someone to join us and hold direct responsibility for technical aspects surrounding enterprise product development.

You will work closely with the Product Owner to realize the product vision for our product, Universal Catalog.


Your role will involve the following:

  • Collaborate with product team, operations team, development team, and technical use cases to create and execute product features and capabilities (i.e., User Research, demos, feedback sessions, and education sessions)
  • Analyze customer needs and make them into requirements, ensuring they are fully understood, and that any implementation plans meet expectations.
  • Assess new technology capabilities to measure their value potential to the portfolio.
  • Liaise with the team's architects to define the product's technical vision
  • Evaluate and deal with technical risks.
  • Contribute to the solidification of a product road map.
  • Build and own execution plans to meet product goals.
  • Assist the Product Owner with the management of the product backlog, write user stories when needed, and prioritize them based on changing requirements.
  • Ensure technical requirements are fully understood and execution plans match expectations.
  • Monitor and evaluate product progress at each stage of the execution process.
  • Work with product operations to consult on scalable user training.
  • Deepen domain expertise to answer questions related to the product and its capabilities from a technical lens.
  • Coach junior members of the product team to think in terms of holistic requirements.
  • Lead product documentation efforts and own documentation standards.
  • Develop product team testing standards.
  • Implement beta test scenarios to validate new feature ideas.
  • Analyze product metrics and data to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Participate in Scrum meetings, design meetings, Sprint Planning, Sprints, and Retrospectives
  • Serve as a product evangelist and SME to the technical/development community.
  • Promote productled culture, and good data citizenship across CID&A, and Scotiabank.

The Data Enablement Architecture and Universal Catalog teams work to bring trust, understanding and ease of use to data product teams within CID&A.


Universal Catalog (UC) has enabled the collection of a broad range of technical, operational, and business metadata across multiple lines of business in support of our data standards and Playbook.

Moving forward, UC aims to become the user-friendly answer to data enablement, governance, understanding, and data access problems across the bank.
