    Pharmaceutical and Supplementary Division engages in policy development to support the governance, oversight and administration of the Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan (AHCIP), remuneration systems and claims processing for physicians and allied health professionals, and interprovincial reciprocal financial arrangements. The Division designs and delivers community-based supplementary health benefit programs on behalf of Albertans requiring pharmaceutical, chiropractic, optical, dental and other medical supports (e.g., wheelchairs, prosthetics, oxygen, medical/surgical supplies, etc.). These programs include prescription drug coverage primarily for seniors and low-income Albertans, as well as clinical pharmacy services such as pharmacist-administered vaccinations. We also provide leadership to national and provincial organizations to ensure accountable and appropriate delivery of blood, organ and tissue donation.

    Divisional Services Branch (DSB)
    Divisional Services Branch (DSB) is one of the branches of Pharmaceutical and Supplementary (PSB) Division and leads the coordination and development of cabinet packages and decision documents for policy proposals and legislative or regulatory amendments for PSB division. DSB also oversees the preparation of divisional operational planning, corporate planning and reporting, and supports clear, concise and high quality correspondence and communication material.

    DSB also provides provincial oversight for a broad range of complex programs and leads the delivery of community-based programs:

  • The Alberta Aids to Daily Living (AADL) program funds basic medical equipment and supplies for Albertans with long-term disabilities, chronic and terminal illnesses.
  • The Blood, Organ and Tissue program provides oversight for the safe and secure provision of blood and blood products and provides policy oversight to the provincial organ/tissue donation program and manages the donation registry, the Alberta Organ and Tissue Donation Registry.

    Reporting to the Manager, Policy and Projects, Divisional Serviced Branch within the Pharmaceutical and Supplementary Benefits Division. As the Senior Policy Analyst of DSB, you will apply your proven knowledge and experience to lead or support various strategic initiatives focused on achieving the ministry and Government of Alberta priorities.

    This position will:

  • Provide policy advice, conduct research and interpretation and analysis and recommendations to unit Manager and leadership
  • Lead the preparation of Cabinet reports and associated decision documents for policy proposals and legislative or regulatory amendments for PSB division.
  • Provide leadership and guidance on the work of policy professional and administrative staff and instruct Legal and Legislative Services as well as PSB program areas to facilitate policy and legislation making process and to ensure PSB/Ministry delivers its policy and legislative priorities.
  • Provide stakeholder engagement expertise. This position will also represent the Division by conducting internal/external stakeholder consultations with broad stakeholder groups and is required to prepare stakeholder analysis to ensure that policy issues are identified and addressed.
  • The position is expected to provide coordination and project management support to assigned program areas within PSB division
  • You are a self-starter with broad knowledge of the Ministry's programs, policies and structures. Your superior interpersonal and relationship building skills will assist you with developing networks and building collaborative environment with internal staff and external stakeholders. You are a strategic thinker with an excellent grasp of organizational concepts and the capacity to manage/prioritize several complex tasks or issues concurrently.
