Assistant or Associate Professor of Nutrition and Healthy Aging

Department of Nutrition, Faculty of Medicine

The Department of Nutrition of the Faculty of Medicine of Université de Montréal is seeking to recruit an Assistant or
Associate Professor with research expertise in the field of nutrition and healthy aging. A key mission of the
Department of Nutrition is to educate and train students as nutritionists committed to practicing within the four sectors

of the profession:
Clinical Nutrition, Public Health Nutrition, Food Service Management, Nutrition in Agrifood and
Biopharmaceuticals. It is also the Department's mission to pursue cutting-edge nutrition research and instruct
students to develop strong skills in research practice and knowledge dissemination at the national and international
levels. Our vision is one where advancements in nutrition are at the heart of transforming food systems that are
central to promoting health along with environmental sustainability and renewal. To learn more about the

As Professor, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the excellence of the Department of

Nutrition of the Faculty of Medicine through teaching and research activities.
You will also help illuminate the influence of the nutrition profession on our society in addition to actively participate
in the functioning of a renowned academic and research institution.

As such, you will need to demonstrate:


Accomplishments in research on the role of dietary factors in successful aging and preventing physical and
cognitive decline; 

Knowledge of metabolomics to identify novel dietary intake biomarkers as predictors of mortality and
longevity; 

A capacity to conduct and disseminate research involving human participants. In collaboration with
the promotion of healthy lifestyles to the prevention and management of chronic diseases; 

Based on clinical research or cohort study findings, an ability to pursue the development of intervention
strategies to help maintain the health and autonomy of adults as they age; 

Strong potential for excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and the ability to
supervise students at the graduate level and an ability to incorporate intelligent food-tracking mobile apps for
research purposes.

**To succeed in this role, you'll need: **Hold a PhD degree and have completed or be undergoing postdoctoral training (must be completed before
the starting date) on a research topic compatible with the expected profile; 

Be a member of the Ordre des diététistes-nutritionnistes du Québec (or be eligible) and / or be a member of
the Dietitians of Canada (or be eligible); 

Have a competitive scientific publication record with recent scientific productivity and receipt of scholarships
and/or research grants; 

Adequate knowledge of the French language (written and spoken)
or a strong commitment to attaining the
French language proficiency level required, in accordance to Université de Montréal's Language Policy. An
institutional learning support program is offered to all professors wishing to learn French or improve their
communication skills.
