Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensuring safety is a priority to self, coworkers, the public, and the assets of the company and following policies and procedures set out by the company
- Installation, wiring, assembly, and maintenance of railway signals and communications equipment
- Install, examine, replace, or repair electrical wiring, receptacle, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fibreoptic and coaxial assemblies, lighting fixtures, and other electrical components
- Perform regular inspections, testing of operations, and preventative maintenance on various electronic and mechanical S&C equipment
- Diagnose problems and repair all types of S&C electronic and mechanical systems.
- Use a wide variety of hand tools, ontrack high rail equipment, and test instruments
- Work as part of a team performing heavy labour related to railway signaling, construction, and maintenance
- Compliance with track rules and instructions according to CROR
- Communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and managers
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Minimum of 12 years experience installing and/or maintaining S&C systems
- Ontario driver's license with a clean driver's abstract.
- High school or GED
- Must be able to pass all required training, background check, and drug & alcohol testing.
- Strong aptitude for the electrical/electronic field
Electrical Technician diploma is an asset:
- Ability to work independently or in a team setting
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs
- Responds to emergency repair situations during and after regular working hours, sometimes on holidays, weekends, and oncall.
- Must be in good physical condition to perform job duties outdoors in all types of weather conditions
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Familiarity with Canadian Rail Operating Rules; Current Certification is an asset
- Experience working in a railway environment an asset
- Ability to provide clear written and verbal communications
- Strong commitment to company health and safety
- Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check, drivers abstract and drug & alcohol test.
